🏈 Game Day Tradition

If you are not attending the game in person what is your game day routine?
Mine: Early kickoff- 11:30-2:30 time frame:
Cook big breakfast, watch college game day then scroll through other games on till our Kickoff
Weird 4:45 kickoff time to 6:30 kickoff-
Smoke something on grill to eat during the game and if yard work needs to be done do it until 2:30 CBS comes on then watch till Bama kickoff
Night game (7pm-8:30 kickoff)
Once again smoke something to have during game but stay busy all day either with yard work, till 2:30 CBS game comes on then graze on food till our game comes on while watching other games.

I wear my dads Bama practice jersey at game time. The only times we have lost recently I failed to pack it. When home stack itinerary with to dos so don't have time to think about game. Drink. Lock and loaded by game time. Pace around. Smoke something too !

Get up about 7:30, play with the kids, watch Gameday, get my bets in for the 12:00 games, follow them closely and start gearing up for the real games at 3:30. Pour me a bourbon drink, or scotch, and start working on dinner come 5. Something simple like hamburgers in the grill until I get my Egg and start Boston butts, then kick the wife and kids downstairs as I watch The Tide roll at 8.

Since I try to be at all of the home games, the away games consist of me in my Man Cave screaming at the big screen by myself. The wife and kids know it isn't safe around me. For the Iron Bowl, when it is at the Cow Pasture, I go to my parents house to watch the game with all of my family that is in for Thanksgiving. Now you have 20 grown ass men screaming at the tv, coaches, officials, Verne and Gary, etc.

Buy an Egg during an EGGfest, you'll save about 30% doing it that way, www.biggreenegg.com/events/eggfests. You pre-buy a demo egg, they use it during the EGGfest to demo foods, then at the end after it cools down, you pack it up and take it home. I bought mine this way and got one that didn't get cooked on, buy the XL if you can, you won't regret having the extra space.

I also buy 2 new quality Alabama shirts (Nike) before each season. They get rotated until I decide on which has been touched by the spirit of Harry Gilmer and it becomes the standard "watching at home attire". In the event the luck wears thin I have a very subdued mock neck Nike shirt that only has a small script A on the collar. I was wearing it while attending the 09 game vs 10rc and I consider it to have been touched by the spirit of CPB himself. When all else fails I
Put it on. It was partially responsible for Yeldon's screen TD at LSU and Blake's turnaround against the turds in the 2nd half of the IB last year.

Usually will stock up on some liquor on Friday. Will have Captain Morgan, Crown, and whatever my brother is having. On gameday, we'll usually smoke some pork ribs, I'll make some burgers and hotdogs, and then there will be chips, cheese, and dip for everyone. We'll drink, yell, play some music, make fun of Verne, celebrate, then pass out and wake up hungover.

For different games, we'll do different shit. For instance, during the 3SIO, we'll cook the same food, but will drink Jack Daniels. For the Arkansas game, we'll drink our usual stuff, but cook everything pork. And of course for the LSU game, we'll have boudin (fortunately for us, we have relatives in Louisiana who we go see when 'Bama plays @LSU, and who will come see us when LSU plays @ 'Bama), do our special gumbo, and eat the Louisiana sausage they bring. To go with that, lots and lots of alcohol.

For several years now I have bought a new game day cap to be worn only during our games that season. The day before the game we put out our U of A flag, and it flies until the Sunday after. I always wake up a good bit earlier than my wife. and I make a pot of coffee, and weather permitting go sit out back and drink coffee. All the early Saturday coverage before there has been a kickoff drives me nuts, so I avoid the TV until near kickoff for the first game of the day. We have a big breakfast mid morning- eggs, sausage, the works. If it is just the two of us we will grill a couple of small steaks, bake a potato and throw together a salad. Beverage of choice is iced tea, as I found out half a lifetime ago that drinking alcohol and being a contributing member of society were not compatible for me.

Good thing you've been around three lifetimes, Howard.

I'm a loner except for the few times my wife has cornered me into being around people during a Bama game. We went to a huge party of uga fans for the blackout game, I had to sit on someone else's house to watch Bama come back to win the SECC, she cornered me into hosting a NC party against Notre Dame, and we had folks at the lake for Labor Day for the Michigan game. Now that I think about it, we've had a pretty good run.

Tim

That's pretty badass man. I will definitely look into this.
