Not Herbstreit, not Corso, but that other guy that no one can ever remember his name, said this:

"Oklahoma is 1st in the Big 12 in defense but 55th in the nation. It is 55th because of the ridiculous offenses in the Big 12."

Do these guys that spew this garbage believe that anyone who has ever watched more than 2 football games in their lives believe them?

I think they know it isn't true, but are trying to build up the teams each week to get ratings for the show. I mean, I understand trying to do your job, but I bet they feel really weird sometimes saying what they have to say knowing how untrue it is.

I know they know better, they have to. Anyone knows that when 6 out of 12 teams in a single conference can amass 400 or 500 yards a game in the air during every game, something is amiss on the defensive sides of the balls for all of these teams.

It isn't that the offensives are that good, it is that the defenses are the closest thing to non-existent that can be imagined.

The ugly underbelly of the spread offense, the flip side of the coin = Crappy, crappy defenses. Be prepared for over 1100 yards in the air today between Okie and TT. Also, be prepared for fawning and foaming over the wave of the future in offensive schemes type talk.

But most of all, just hope and pray 'Bama can do their thing and make it all the way to Miami. Then, the #3 defense in the nation will most assuredly shut down this modern, girlie-girl, fluffy and pretty type offense and put #13 on the shelf.

How about "The offenses are ranked so highly because the best defense in the conference is only 55th in the nation!"

Exactly, Big_Fan.

Instead, the commentator went the "the offenses are just too good so the defenses have absolutely no chance" route.

Bologna. This is the attitude out there though. Everbody loves basketball on grass, Hoover High School style.

Inevitably, a team with a defense will foul them up beyond recognition. I am just keeping my fingers crossed that 'Bama makes it to Miami and faces a Big12 offense.

I'll take our style of play over any Big 12 team in the land. Running the ball allows us to control the tempo of the game and keep the ball out of the opposing offense's hands.

Since they will continue to air it out, it will lead to shorter possessions for them, more time to control the clock for our offense. Eventually, our D line will be able to pin their ears back and go after the QB without having to worry about the run completely.

If we don't turn the ball over, or give them a short field with poor special teams, I like our chances very well.

All of the above goes the same for the Gators, too. Florida runs the ball more, lots of draws and tosses out of shotgun. As long as we can clog the middle, enter Terrence Cody, our LBs should be able to fire around the edge and stop that. I like our chances more and more everytime I think about it. That's my rant for the day, RTR.
