With KSU's scheduling habits he'll have that program in the same league as your Tx Tech is today; highly ranked, but very few teams they've played in terms of "quality opponents."
The guy is a great defensive coach! Who he pulls in as his OC is going to be worth watching.

They may have a good season every once in a while but they will never sustain good football. You might also compare them with the barn. If Kansas hadn't had such a good year last year and done pretty well this year Kansas State would not have fired the one they had.

Kansas State, under Bill Snyder, was far from the Mississippi State category. Their run from '93 through 2003 had what, 7 or 8 - 10 and 11 win seasons...couple of divisional titles, one conference title.
Comparing them to say Auburn I'd agree with...

Gary Patterson's agent has denied to GoPowercat.com that Patterson has been hired by Kansas State. GoPowercat cited sources stating such earlier Friday.
"We have had no contact with K-State," George Bass, Patterson's agent, said.
Multiple sources have told GoPowercat that K-State has had discussions with Patterson and a deal was reached. Bass strongly denies this information.
Patterson is a K-State graduate who began his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach on Jim Dickey's 1982 KSU staff at K-State. Since that first year, Patterson has had 10 stops along the way as an assistant coach before taking over the head coach duties at TCU in 2000.
Beginning with the 1996 season, Patterson was reunited with former Pittsburg State coach Dennis Franchione at New Mexico for two seasons as the defensive coordinator then moved to TCU when Franchione took over the Horned Frogs beginning with the 1998 campaign.
Patterson is 71-27 as TCU's head coach.
