Some Twitter chatter was throwing out 7-8 mil but Rodney Orr shot that down.
I'm kinda expecting it to be more of a, "Look, I'm signing a new deal, we're happy here ok, so quit asking us..." type deal. I don't think this is about money.

Tis the season for raises and firings. For Alabama coach Nick Saban, it sounds like his employer would love to throw some more money and years at the sport's best coach.Sources told ESPN's Paul Finebaum that Saban has had a contract extension on his desk since Friday but has yet to sign it. The sources also said the longer it goes unsigned, the more uncomfortable Alabama officials are becoming. With Texas coach Mack Brown reportedly expected to resign by the end of the week, speculation is running rampant surrounding Saban and the Longhorns.Okay, folks, I can't sit by and listen to this drivel any longer without responding. Does anyone here think Saban is stupid? Me neither. Leaving Alabama, right now, would be... the single...stupidest.... move... by a coach... in the history of coaching. Saban is poised to win several, I repeat, several more championships at Alabama. The entire foundation and the dynasty itself is built. Saban has HIS PLAYERS in place and poised to dominate on a continuing basis. Why start over? Why compete with what he has built here at Alabama? IT WOULD BE RIDICULOUS TO LEAVE! Saban isn't that stupid. He has a chance to continue what he started, finish what he started, and at the end of the day be considered the greatest coach in the history of NCAA football. Yeah, you think several million MORE dollars is worth that? Me neither. And neither does Saban. Can we drop the rumors and speculation? Do you see how insane it sounds now?
You may be right, Chief. If football were NASCAR Alabama would be by far the fastest car on the track, and any driver would be foolish to trade it in for another.
I have no idea if CNS will stay or go, but if he leaves, it will have nothing to do with the money. However many millions the Longhorns are willing to throw at him, doubtless the Tide would match them, and rightly consider it a bargain.
I think the most underated part of Saban's success as a coach is his ability to keep his team motivated and hungry in the face of repeated success. That's not easy to do, and it takes a toll.
Consider this season. The tide was literally one second away from playing for another National Championship. A little more leg and a favorable wind is all it would have taken. Instead, a freakish, never-seen-anything-like-it-play, turned another perfect season into a "disappionting" 11 and 1 season, and a trip to "just" the Sugar Bowl. That same season in Austin would have people dancing in the streets!
If Saban leaves, it will be because at Bama, he has nowhere to go but down. It's way more fun climbing the mountain than trying to stay on top of the mountain.
