There are two ways to look at this.

Should the NCAA step in and could the NCAA step in.

Of course they could. I don't think they should.

Assuming they did, what benefit is seen in the end?

That's a good point Terry. I don't see that there would be any benefit at all in the end. But, I could see them doing something to either set a standard and/or to show the country that football doesn't rule above all things, but I don't know I could be wrong

The "death penalty" shouldn't be handed out in this case. Punishing those that were never a part of this would be asinine. Those that covered it up will become close friends with some of the career criminals in the prison system like Sandusky. The University will shell out millions to try and smooth over things with these families.
