Four Vanderbilt University football players suspended

Vanderbilt University today announced that four members of its football team were suspended earlier this week for violation of team rules. As additional facts become known, Vanderbilt will take further action, if and as warranted.
Because of Vanderbiltās ongoing investigation, the university will offer further comment when appropriate.
Does this strike you as odd? Odd, as in the last place I expected to see this kind of news story breaking is at Vandy?
The first thing that crosses my mind:
In light of the Hernadez story there's been reports of some 27/28 NFL players arrested since the Super Bowl. There are different conclusions people have drawn from those numbers but most point to a correlation between star football players and criminal activity.
In recent years we've seen kids commit to major schools and then we've seen switches to Vandy. Hearing a 4* player announce he's planning on attending Vandy doesn't come as a shock they way it did a year and a half ago.
Is there a correlation here?
