That last thought crossed my mind earlier as well. Who else do they go to besides Buck? Chris Meyers? He's more suited for baseball if you (they) asked me.I guess he gets the call for the Open because Fox doesn't dip their toe in the golf water that often. But Buck is overexposed and his face time far exceeds his abilities. Just to put all the big events on the shoulders of one guy doesn't say much about who's waiting in the bullpen.
Pardon the use of a golf term, but it sure seems Fox Sports is the landing area, or the waste area, we see a lot of guys fall. There's simply not a lot of talent to be found. (Think about that...Cowherd, Brado, et al.)
So many complain about Verne, but he's pretty damn good at events like this one.
I don't necessarily dislike Jim Nance, he's extremely versatile, but why must he call every event on CBS's schedule?
I like Nantz in golf coverage. I likely don't get exposed to him as much as others due to me not watching the NFL. What's he doing now? I think it's Thursday night and Sunday's, isn't it?
Here's an example of overexposure for me. I've found some of Chris Fowler's commentary on Twitter to be entertaining and informative in the football season. It stops there. I know he's a BIG tennis fan, but I don't want to know what's going on in the world of professional tennis. It's just not my thing.
