He's played in all three games this season in a back-up role. He's had a tough time of it down there from what I've been told...starting from his desire to go to UF and handlers pushing him to follow Boom and sign with AU.

I've had a few who follow AU closely tell me in the last 24 hours the dismissal of White isn't going over well within the locker room.

Jeff Holland is another out of his class that was "pulled" from Florida and signed with Auburn that class. In three years he's got less than 40, I'm sure...probably in the 33-38 range (total tackles.)

When both were signed we had conversations here about them being recruited by Rodney Garner (and all that comes with that which is factual) and we also talked about how he'd recruited top defensive lineman throughout his career and didn't develop a lot of them.

With Cowart and Holland...how much of it has to do with Garner, and how much of it has to do with kids recruited for Boom and playing for Steele.

A lot of chapters in their stories ...

As recently as late last night, I was told from the inside that it was a "weird situation" and it was unclear how this would play out.

We (Bryan, J-Lee and I) have heard this same basic story several times during the past two years — including twice since, say, July 1. We'd follow up and the trail would lead nowhere.

Cowart's personal life is complicated, suffice it to say.

We really don't want to be wrong on this story. As of now, we're going to hold back. If we're wrong to do this, if Brandon and Derek Tyson win this battle, then we'll just move on with one in the L column. And good on them for getting the story right.

Garner recruited a lot of big names at Georgia and could never get them to maximize their potential. Sure, Georgia has had some good defenses, but nothing to the point that justifies their ranking. I think you can see them excelling in the NFL and even more realize these coaches were not getting anything out of these kids, but yet they found it in the NFL.

LOL, clearly your co-worker is happy with the Auburn program - football, softball, basketball, AD, etc. I guess the scoreboard and some new oak trees are cool enough to overlook the other issues going on down there.

If I recall correctly, there was some Cowart rumblings right after he got to Auburn or around NSD...something about him changing his mind. Or was that another Auburn player during the Muschamp days at UF.

I think that was both Cowart and CeCe Jefferson at UF. The latter was not happy in Gainesville, and I think...think a Bama player tweeted something about him getting out of there and coming to Tuscaloosa. I think the big recruiting story was that Cowart, the Bama player (don't remember who), and Jefferson were supposed to play together. We've heard that story line so many times that it's nothing more than a scoffing moment now.

Hour two, Finebaum interviewing Brandon Marcello from Auburn Undercover ...

It's worth the listen because it's a good interview. Paul pegs Brandon a few times with the right questions like why did Byron leave. What's good about that question is it following Brandon bragging about Auburn signing the best player in the history of the program based on him being ranked as the top player in the class.

"So, why did he leave?"
"Perhaps, it's arguable, he was over-rated by the services."

See, that does make sense ... sort of ... but then you're also throwing the coaching staff under the bus for evals.

He touches on the hires of Jacobs (Galloway, Meyers) and the fans upset with Gus going as far as comparing it to 2012.

It's about 30 minutes .... FW to the 10 min mark the the start of the piece ... it'll give you a good insight on how these stories are being framed by the Auburn beat writers.
