ā€œThat offense at Auburn, I’m not sure what the hell it is,ā€ Lombardi said. ā€œThey run power, they run unbalanced… But anyway, that offense, seriously, might be one of the worst offenses in football, so you can’t evaluate a quarterback in it or they can’t train a quarterback, that’s the other thing. (Gus Malzahn) can’t train them.ā€

The barners have a very difficult schedule for the upcoming season. Oregon first up and Georgia and Florida as east crossovers, 9 wins might be a stretch. But Gus is back driving the bus, as play-caller, it feels like he needs a very competitive offensive team from start to finish. In short, Gatewood/Nix better be all that.

JMO but Nix is going to be a goodun. Steele is going to have to do a much better job of coaching defense this year and if Guz goes back to "going fast" then Kevin and his crew will really have a more difficult time if 1st downs aren't made and 3 and outs happen to often.

Gatewood is just another Jeremy Johnson

Nix is a pure athlete, so he will be able to make something out of nothing even when Gus calls the same play over and over and over. So, I agree with that.
