Dee Powell, former Alabama assistant, dies at 85
Served as line coach on 3 Bryant national title teams
Dee Powell, who was one of Paul “Bear” Bryant’s famed “Junction Boys” at Texas A&M and later coached several years at Alabama, has died. He was 85.
Powell worked three different stints as a Bryant assistant at Alabama, and was a part of national championship teams in 1964, 1978 and 1979. He was defensive coordinator for Gene Stallings at Texas A&M and later served in athletic administration at both Alabama and Auburn.
