I went to street view to get a sense of where it happened. It is not like he was in a bad part of town. He was about a mile from the US Capitol in an area similar to lots of the older downtown areas, full of shops and places to grab a bite. Two stupid teens decided they liked his car though.

Eaten at that Ben’s Chili across the stores a few times. Maybe he was going for some chili and got mugged. I don’t think of that as a bad part of town at all.

As rock said...All things are relative, just goes to show how things are changing everywhere you go today. People who do these things don't care where they do their crimes because there are no ramifications to commiting them.

It’s not the best area of town, but it’s not a slum either. Shouldn’t have happened.

Reports are he took the gun away from one of the kids and the other shot him and took his car. Hindsight being 20/20 and all but insurance pays to replace the car if ti is stolen. Best just to let them have it (assuming your kid isn't strapped into the seat or something) and call police.

I don't know all the details, but I could have sworn the passing part of the news I saw showed his car being towed. I've been wrong before, today even...

Possible that the person reporting was wrong on that. I saw it towed also, but assumed that was from them stealing it and dumping it or being caught in it.
