Offensive lineman Caleb Gulledge, who was medically disqualified from the University of Alabama, has joined the Jacksonville State football program where he is eligible to play this season.
A JSU spokesperson confirmed to AL.com that Gulledge reported to camp today. Earlier this month, Alabama head coach Nick Saban said he was medically disqualified from spring practice because of a "chronic medical issue."
Gulledge is eligible to play immediately after transferring from a Football Bowl Subdivision School to a Football Championship Subdivision school. He was rated as a 3-star recruit out of Prattville High School in the class of 2012, so the 6-foot-4, 280-pound Gulledge has four years left to play four.
He is the fifth FBS transfer to join the Jacksonville State program this year, including quarterback Max Shortell (Minnesota), linebackers Harris Gaston and Chris Landrum (Auburn) and offensive lineman Michael Flint (Arkansas State).
