Since Freddie is a Bama guy.... the Browns stooped to a new low on the last play of the Thursday night game. Garret pulls Mason Rudolph off the ground by his helmet, Rips it off, then slugs him with it. Looks like he just cost himself a good amount of money.



 
It was an ugly end to an ugly game. Slugging someone with a helmet is pretty damn bad. Wonder if assault with a weapon charges would be in play.

Players pull other players helmets off here and there, but they donā€™t slug them with it. And I hate, I mean dislike, the Steelers a lot. Except for Minkah and Barron.
 
i got on amazon to start watching the man in the high castle, last night. this game was on the front page so i clicked on it to see if it was a live game (didn't know amazon had thursday night nfl games on). it was, so i started watching it. i don't normally watch nfl, but i had it on and decided to watch it since there was only a little over 3 minutes left in the game. and then with 8 seconds to go, it happened. i saw it and i said, "DAMN! that's basically assault, right there!"

they assessed off-setting penalties for each team (if i remember correctly) and ejected Garrett (which was kind of anticlimactic since there was only 8 seconds left in the game)...but i'm thinking Garrett will probably be heavily fined and maybe even suspended for a few games with no pay for that crap.

Ha, They stunk it up last night for sure. Rudolph was awful. I was thinking when the fiasco happened at the end, at least it took the attention off how bad of a game he just had. They have a lot of folks hurt, so not all his fault. But some of his 4 INT's were horrible throws. And the Browns dropped at least 2 other easy picks.

There was a hit in the 3rd on a Steelers WR that couldn't catch up to a pass. Pretty good helmet to helmet hit right to the side of his head. He was woozy immediately. When they took his helmet off, looked like blood flowing down his cheek coming from his ear. Not the normal blood on the jersey type stuff. Injury bug is beating them up.
 
He's been suspended indefinitely but no less than the rest of this season. More than likely he'll lose some games next year, too. Let's also not forget when you are suspended you forfeit that game check, too.

Absolutely inexcusable. The fact that people are defending him by saying "yeah but Rudolph tugged at his helmet first" is pathetic to me. Rudolph got hit with a penalty, that's what he deserved for it. Garrett hit another man in the head with a helmet, that is beyond the pale. Now, granted I understand why Pouncey and the others reacted the way they did (punching and kicking Garrett) but probably should be at least one game suspension for each of those, too.

On Friday, the league issued judgement, and Garrett has been suspended indefinitely, with All-Pro center Maurkice Pouncey -- who was seen throwing a punch -- along with Larry Ogunjobi also having been suspended.
"The Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns organizations have each been fined $250,000 and three players -- Cleveland's Myles Garrett and Larry Ogunjobi, and Pittsburgh's Maurkice Pouncey -- have been suspended without pay for their actions in Thursday night's game.

"Garrett has been suspended without pay indefinitely -- at a minimum of the remainder of the regular season and postseason -- and must meet with the commissioner's office prior to a decision on his reinstatement. He was also fined an additional amount. Garrett violated the unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct rules, as well as fighting, removing the helmet of an opponent and using the helmet as a weapon.
"Pouncey has been suspended without pay for three games and fined an additional amount for fighting, including punching and kicking an opponent.

"Ogunjobi has been suspended without pay for one game and fined an additional amount for unnecessary roughness, specifically for shoving an opposing player to the ground during an altercation.
"Additional discipline for other players will be forthcoming through the standard accountability process, including those players that left the bend to enter the fight area.
 
I just watched this for the first time. Our current events had to go around the school and ask all staff members what their opinion is of the incident. My opinion is this is assault and he should be suspended for a minimum of 1 year, with a heavy fine.
 
This is another of those bizarre stories.

Just minutes after this incident I saw someone question "how long will it be before someone claims there was a racial slur involved?" As it ended up, the question was rhetorical because ESPN's Josina Anderson had already started the narrative. Anderson, who just so happens to be one of the people with whom Garrett tells this side of the story.

Now this becomes another mess that we'll see blow up in media circles. Some of the reactions I'm seeing today ... :oops:

I believe Myles was going to talk a few days ago, but was shutdown by the Browns.

Surely the NFL will review this, I'm sure someone was mic'ed up to assist in validating this claim.

They'll just apologize and everyone will forget, just like Richard Sherman and the video that showed he lied about Mayfield not shaking his hand.
