I saw something similar in the A-Day program and busted out laughing saying they definitely do that for Verne. My dad still cant say Cyrus & Arie's last names correctly let alone spell them.

Gary is good, Verne no... but give me Musburger/Kirk, Nessler/Blackledge anyday.

Musburger/Kirk... maybe when they learn the rules of football and can call plays accurately without looking like knuckleheads by having to bring in experts.... citing last years BCS 1st quarter when they had to bring in Rogers Redding to explain a referee's call that Musburger spouted off embarrassingly ..."That was horrible call. What's going on here?"

"So that was a good call in your opinion." (Musberger to Redding's correct explanation that any novice knew already)

No Musberger... not his opinion. The way football is played!!! Try reading the rule book shankapotamous.

I have no idea what particular play you're talking about but suggesting Kirk doesn't know football is pretty ridiculous.

It was the catch interference call on ND's first punt in NC slaughter. That was all Verne. I think Kirk lets Verne run with his lame ideas just to let him dangle himself for all to see. Kirk's early first half assessment of the ND defensive line's inability to hold the line and that they had resorted to stunts every play - "I think they're guessing" - was telling.

Aren't you confusing Verne with Brent?

@Birdman37: On that interference call, Brent ranted about it being a horrible call, what's going on here, blah blah blah...and Kirk then chimed in "Absolutely!" in full agreement with Brent's tail-spin-into-the-ditch analogy. Kirk not only agreed, but added nothing to challenge or hint otherwise that Brent had no idea what he was talking about. Kirk was either a complacent "Yes" man or didn't read the play properly either. In any case, it was embarrassing to sit through and to listen to. Now, if it had been Verne and Gary, and Verne had erred, you can practically hear Gary going, "Now wait a minute Verne, you'll notice that in that play...."

My biggest problem with Gary and Vernon is the fact that they will beat a dead horse and then go back and kick that same dead horse. The whole diatribe following the Quinton Dial hit on Aaron Murray started in the 2nd quarter and kept going well into the 3rd quarter in last year's SEC Championship game. As most of us already know, it was a legal hit all the way.
