Thirty years ago College Football looked significantly different thant it does today. (i.e. 85-scholarship restrictions did not exist, The Southwest Conference was a player, Stadiums were not the behemoths of today, Televised games were much more of a rarity, no BCS... and there are many more.

If you're feel froggy, look into your Magic 8-ball and tell me what you think will be the rising trends or new face of College Football in 2038.

Games will be simulated via EA Sports NCAA 2038. There will be no need to actually play the games. It will thne be a battle to recruit the best programmers.

I really hope the nerd population is not that overwhelming in 2038 lol.

Les Miles is still an idiot.

Joe Pa is in his last year at Penn State.

Tubberville still only has one SEC title.

Ohio State has played in 20 straight NC games, winning none.

And... Playoff.

*ahem* Video games do NOT a nerd make.

1. Playoffs
2. Financial penalties or suspensions for coaches involved in probation, OR the probation travels with the coach.
3. 14 day recovery from torn ACL.
4. Got 16?

1.Playoffs
2.Players will be getting paid
3.NZAA will rule only Alabama has to play with 8 men on the field and one hand tied behind back!

The NCAA legalizes genetic engineering. Bama hires skilled scientists who take the best from Namath, Stabler, Jordan, Newsome, Hannah, etc. and reels off 12 straight national championships.

by 2038 the NFL will have adopted a developmental league by then thus effectively eliminating the mass appeal of NCAA football. given the downward trend in education, the number of talented high school recruits who will be both academically qualified and interested in attending college (instead of earning immediate money in the developmental league) will be relatively few. the number of Div 1-A programs will be greatly reduced as well.

at least, that's what my crystal ball tells me.

Here's my thoughts.

Playoffs certainly, so that we can tell out kids and Grandkids "...well I remember when the Championship Game's participants were decided by Coaches who were too busy to watch any team but next week's opponent, guys armed with Journalism degrees, and computers that didn't know if they were adding footballs or doing taxes."

Each conference will have its own television network running 24/7 that covers all sports and all teams. The success of some networks (e.g. SEC and the Big 10) will encourage further expansion of Mega Conferences. Games will be more evenly played on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays to allow for more games to be televised.

More of the special pre-season Kickoff Classic type games. In fact, they will become more like Bowl Game atmospheres. If a city can make money in December by bringing in two distant teams, Northern cities will be all about hold "summer bowls".

Iron facemasks will be replaced my a stronger, fully-transparent plexiglass type material. What that material is I am not sure, but the idea is sound.

Auburn will still be irrelevant on the national scene.

No game should be about the programmers, but without programmers and graphic designers you wouldn't have a game. It's not like you can open up notepad and type "Create a really cool stadium" and one pops up. And besides if it wasn't for the "nerdy programmer" type we wouldn't have video games, computers, cell phones, TV's, DVD Players, the list goes on.
