So they have more $$$ and power by aligning with the democratic party?

Are there more people with wealth or more considered living paycheck to paycheck/poor? Win the middle class and lower class and you have the majority and can squeeze the life out of the minority till they conform and you have absolute power and free reign. Why you think they try so hard to turn them against "rich" conservatives? The irony is unbelievable seeing as these same Democrats are filthy rich, but clearly the divide is right there.

The mentality of the city folks is much more community herding than the fly over states. Thank God we have a Republic that lets each state have an equal voice. The herd can stampede when they hear thunder but the fly over states just go back to work. There is a significant majority of people in the cities and they try to dictate their will on the people of the rest of the country, but It ain't working.

The Democrats are good at getting people to believe that someone else is the cause of all of their woes and that they would be so much better off if someone else wasn't taking what is rightfully theirs. Anyone rich only got that way by stealing from you. White people (especially white men) have privileges that others don't. They always fight for one group by trying to destroy another. The world is a zero sum game to them and that is attractive to a lot of people.

We (my profession) is being taken hostage for votes and every politician (I don’t care what party) should be held accountable just as every damn body thinks we (cops) should be held accountable.

Politicians say qualified immunity should be abolished, but they don’t see an issue with them having absolute immunity gtfo!!!

Changes to law enforcement are inevitable, but these douchebag politicians using as pawns to get votes is absolute bullshit.

The laws of unintended consequences.

I've entertained the thought these last few weeks that a lot of people who are normally apolitical will be motivated by those taking the stance of "defunding the police" and it'll show up in the voting booth. Like a lot of independent voters who don't participate in polling it's a segment of the population, one who stands for law and order, that'll make their voices heard in November.

I don't know if you've read over the thread on the non-sports forum about the Democratic members of Congress, and others, and their suggested "soft coup." I glanced over it recently and noted in May of '19, while talking about groups like QANON, the movie Vendetta came up. That's eerily similar to some events in a few cities around the nation today.

When Congress entered their Russia/Ukraine/Impeachment process and we began hearing about the abuses with the FISA courts, within law enforcements agencies, etc., I made the comment that could lead to Trump taking a "law and order" stance for the next election.

Here comes the virus and those stories fall by the wayside...

But here were are back again to a vote on law and order in a lot of states around the US.

Have y’all watched the stuff in Seattle? The autonomous zone. Wow... I sure hope that type movement doesn’t spread. Last night a black speaker got up and told every white person to give $10 to a black person. Demanded it. Said if you have trouble doing that, you have some issues to work on. Then Said Venmo and Zelle were acceptable forms of payment. You can’t make this stuff up!

Occupy Wall Street had similar in NY for a while. It has happened all over going back to at least the 1940's. It will either die out of its own accord or they will wind up being pushed off the property.

Of course. I'd imagine almost everyone has.

Closer to home the situation in Atlanta is one I find very intriguing.

Two weeks ago the DA in ATL says a taser is a deadly weapon in a press conference. He's recently shown video, also in a press conference, where Brooks shot the taser at the officer.

Set aside the DUI for a minute. The guy attacked two officers, right? Stole a taser, shot the taser at the officer, and it's all on body cam.

ATL DA: "Mr. Brooks on the night of this incident was calm, he was cordial and really displayed a cooperative nature..."

He went on to say "...he never presented himself as a threat."

AFTER shooting at an officer with a deadly weapon.

@It Takes Eleven your thoughts as a resident of metro ATL?

Here's what I found intriguing about ATL's situation.

Oath of Office for the Mayor:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the [mayor, president of the council, councilmember] City Council of the City of Atlanta, Georgia. I will not knowingly permit my vote to be influenced by fear, favor, affection, or reward, and in all things pertaining to my office. I will be governed by the public good and the interests of the City. I will observe the provisions of the Charter, ordinances, and regulations of the City of Atlanta, and I will support and defend the Constitutions of the State of Georgia and the United States of America. I am not the holder of any office of trust under the government of the United States, any other state, or any foreign state which I am prohibited from holding by the laws of the State of Georgia; I am not the holder of any unaccounted-for public money due this state or any political subdivision or authority thereof; I have been a resident of the City of Atlanta [and Council District] and am otherwise qualified to hold this office by the Constitution and laws of this State and the Charter and ordinances of the City of Atlanta, so help me God."
Constitution of the state of Georgia (Sec. I, Paragraph VII:
Paragraph VII. Citizens, protection of. All citizens of the United States, resident in this state, are hereby declared citizens of this state; and it shall be the duty of the General Assembly to enact such laws as will protect them in the full enjoyment of the rights, privileges, and immunities due to such citizenship.
Mayor Bottoms commented yesterday that the police "need to remember their oath."

Help me wrap my mind around this one. I don't have the desire to eat at Wendy's often but it sure seems like some lost their right to enjoy their sandwiches. Some, the ability to drive down the road. Other's, the ability to get to their work. Some, their jobs.

They had long lost their way before this most recent madness. After using the airport as a personal piggy bank, the city has been happy to collect the increasing property taxes, all the while complaining about gentrification.

Citizens have raised over $200,000 and rising for the officer's legal defense and family expenses. Honestly, I'll be surprised if funds fall short of a half million. I don't see a possibility of a murder conviction.

I'd also add that our police officers in Cobb County are eating very well these days. They are being inundated with large purchases of food for them. I believe I've seen more flags for Flag Day than in recent memory, too. There are many, many good people who appreciate our police and fire departments, understand how they put their lives on the line for us, and still have an appreciation for what right, what is wrong, and know the clear, common sense differences between true unfairness and manufactured slights.

America’s Own Color Revolution?

Good Article

BLM began in 2013 when three activist friends created the #BlackLivesMatter hashtag to protest the allegations of shooting of an unarmed black teenager, Trayvon Martin by a white Hispanic block watchman, George Zimmermann. Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi were all were connected with and financed by front groups tied to something called Freedom Road Socialist Organization, one of the four largest radical left organizations in the United States formed out of something called New Communist Movement that dissolved in the 1980s.

On June 12, 2020 the Freedom Road Socialist Organization webpage states, ā€œThe time is now to join a revolutionary organization! Join Freedom Road Socialist Organization…If you have been out in the streets this past few weeks, the odds are good that you’ve been thinking about the difference between the kind of change this system has to offer, and the kind of change this country needs. Capitalism is a failed system that thrives on exploitation, inequality and oppression. The reactionary and racist Trump administration has made the pandemic worse. The unfolding economic crisis we are experiencing is the worst since the 1930s. Monopoly capitalism is a dying system and we need to help finish it off. And that is exactly what Freedom Road Socialist Organization is working for.ā€

Capitalism is the best system in the world to create wealth. Elon Musk says it best recently that if we don't make stuff there will be no stuff. Show me one economy that works without it. It is a risk vs opportunity equation. There is a guy that owns a fruit stand was asked how much profit you make on an apple. He said 2%. I buy them for a dime and sell them for just 20 cents. No matter how you figure things if you make a profit on a product it only happens when someone is willing to buy it. That is the real risk. If you don't want wealth, who pays?

Will Police unions survive this when its all said and done?

They've protected some bad behavior for a while, but also protected to police from overzealous city leaders / politicians.
I think they will, but not sure how ā€œpowerfulā€ they will be. Doesn’t affect me at all because I’m not a member of a union, but I’m not so sure there is one here for us anyway, I’ve never looked.

Our department (the officers not the actual dept) donated $3000. It’s a bullshit case by a corrupt, jackass of a DA
