šŸˆ Football. Alabama-Georgia State Football Game Moved to Thursday, November 18, 2010

Will wonders ever cease? Who would have ever thought this game would be scheduled, much less moved to Thursday?

I agree. Why schedule this game if you're not going to use it as a scrimmage? The scout team could probably beat these guys by 2 or 3 touchdowns.

IMO, this shows they don't care about the fans as much as they would have you believe.

It will still be a scrimmage, but will also give an extra two days for the regular participants to prepare for the Auburn game. Including giving the staff the extra time to teach.

I like the idea. A lot.

I can easily see this game being on ESPN2 or ESPNU on a Thursday night and having a national audience, instead of PPV on Saturday morning.

It will be interesting to see how this affects the RVers and the Quad tailgating. You know there will be howls of protest from those groups.

I only wish the SEC office would grow a pair and force a move of the Auburn v. Georgia game a week later. This would eliminate the Auburn open date and now with us having an extra two days would give up a preparation advantage instead of a deficit. Can you just hear the screams from SE Alabama if that happened.

Pretty harsh statement. No matter what move they make to help out in scheduling I am sure they wouldnt satisfy 100% of the people. The stadium will be packed until halftime and then it will then out fast. As always I'm there until the end.

Did you think the same thing in 2001 when the So Miss game got moved to a Thursday night due to 9-11? Because it was originally a 9-15 game then got moved to Nov on a rainy thursday night at Legion.

No, the 2001 So Miss game was a totally different situation. They didn't have a lot of choice in that one. Some, but not a lot. And I was at that game, in the rain, soaked to the bone, and enjoyed it.

This time, it's just an inconvenience to the fans who have to work to try and get there by game time, and then get home to be at work the next day.

For no reason.

It's not like they can't actually start preparing for the Iron Bowl on Monday and still beat Ga. St. like drum.

Agreed. Bama should be able to win that game even if they came to the line and told GSU what they were running and then had no clue as to what GSU was going to do on offense or defense.

LOL, that game was fun. We left work early in ATL drove to Bham. Stayed for the whole game and drove back to ATL that night rain soaked. I got up the next morning and made it to work by 8am. :)

They are looking for an extra day or two of rest for the players before Auburn. I dont fault them for it. I'll be taking Thurs/Fri off.

Bo, I could be wrong but I think this decision shows how much Saban wants the game moved. In the past Mal Moore has always been very clear about having NO interest in Thurs. night games. He has made it clear "we" weren't interested in the exposure and money at the expense of our fanbase. I've heard him state this several times since ESPN started Thurs. night games. I've even heard him be criticized for it. Saban is serious about this Auburn game, and his concerns almost came true last season. He really downplayed it last season, but after the Auburn game his comments told the real story. Again, I could be wrong. I'm just connecting the dots with his quotes and such.

Well, either way...I got a $1,000 Bama bucks that says coach pulls the starters before the whistle blows for the 2nd qtr.

We'll see 3 qtr backs.
3rd & 4th String RB.
Julio will not play past the 2nd qtr.
Neither will most of the starting line backers or corners, with exception of any freshmen starters.

Any takers?

I don't know about you guys, but If Nick Saban wants it moved to Thursday, I have no problem with it. Coach knows best, and knows better than anyone here. I personally think it's a good idea because it gives time for the team to rest and prepare for Auburn, I mean, Auburn IS getting a bye week before playing Bama, after all.

Not so sure about that. He played some starters well into the 2nd half vs the Mocs last year.

good point. i kinda forgot about that one.

And to be fair....as much as it pains me to admit it....the barn had our number with thier D. They had a good game plan.
But given 2 weeks to prep.....against a team with the brutal schedule we had last year.....even the barn could come up with a good game plan.
I doubt that will repeat this year. If for no other reason than we're wise to that BS & Coach Mac will be ready for it.
And i think CNS is getting close to a balanced team that he want. On both sides ofthe ball. But more importantly on Off. I expect us to air it out a lot more this year and for Julio to have his best year yet. Maze will shine as well.
