šŸˆ Football. Alabama and Virginia Tech to Open 2013 Season in Chick-fil-A Kickoff in Atlanta

What are your feelings towards opening with Va. Tech, again?

  • I don't feel either way as long as we aren't playing "Little Sisters of the Poor University."

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of Alabama football team will open the 2013 season against Virginia Tech University on August 31, 2013, in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Ga. Kickoff time and television plans have not yet been determined.

"We are excited to return to Atlanta for the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game where we will face Virginia Tech to open the 2013 season," UA Direct of Athletics Mal Moore said. "We feel it is an excellent opportunity to face a marquee opponent to get that season underway. It is a definite plus for the Crimson Tide and an opportunity I know our team and our fans will look forward to."

I've seen several say over the last few days they'd rather face FSU or Oklahoma considering our recent games with them; both losses.

Now, all those pushing those games and voicing displeasure against Va. Tech did take the time to consider FSU is playing an OOC game in 2013 against W. Virginia. Nor did they consider OU was playing ND that season. (it's one of those facts getting in the way of wants.)

I like playing Va. Tech to open 2013. I'd like to see our recruiting presence felt more strongly in the Carolina's and Virginia's. That said, the biggest thing that makes this game appealing to me—and probably the University's Administration and coaching staff—is if you take all the teams in the southeast and along the eastern coast Va. Tech has had the most successful run over the last decade. Here's a team that's played in the ACC Championship game how many times over the last few years?

What say you?

I dont mind the game but I would love to see us play someone like USC

That would be a better home and home series if you ask me.

But, that takes away (more than likely) getting a prime time slot, being the only game on at the time in front of a national audience.

Also, for every one player we recruit off of the west coast we are probably in on at least a dozen from the SE coast in Dec., Jan., and the first few days of Feb.

Just my perspective...but, I'd love to see the Trojans in BDS...sans Kiffin maybe. :headscratch:

I like this game. It provides more opportunity to recruitment in the Carolinas and Virginias (as Terry said) and Va Tech has been good for along time and been dominate in the last decade in the ACC.

Playing USC sounds good, but I would rather us play ND. There's something about that school I just don't like them.
