So, what kind do you use? What we use here. Plastic, Bamboo, Color Coded ones. But I'm getting a new one tomorrow and it will be BOOS Wood Cutting Board. Over the years I have watched many cooking shows on YouTube. Most were using BOOS boards. Well, I kelp seeing about how plastic ones would leave bits of dust in the food you were cutting. I will stop using the plastic, color coded one.

So what kind do you use for cutting and repairing your meal?

Color coded. Do you use one color for one thing; another color for something else?
I think that's the idea so you don't use same one for chicken and vegetables. If you can't use the same one after you wash it, I really don't want to eat anything you cut on it. Old chicken is old chicken, don't care if you are cutting more chicken or broccoli on it.

Yes, that's what it said on the package when I brought them. Wife will just use one to cut up anything.

Ha. Damn. Never crossed my mind. I bought a new set of knives awhile back and it came with three flexible/plastic cutting surfaces. Three colors; I kept the gray one out because it matches the kitchen. (I know, I know...)

@rick4bama I use four. The one I just referred to for small things like a few slices off of an onion, or tomato. I have two more that are wood: both made with cherry and they different sizes as well. My bigger one is probably 14"x18" or so and then they move down in size.

And then there's the "cutting board," which is actually a mobile island I built several years ago using a piece of maple butcher block.

Now, I don't normally cut meats here. But, other things when I'm in a project? Yeah.

I'd have to measure again. It's around 30" wide and just over 38" long for the cutting surface. (That's removable with storage underneath the board.) I made this one from the counter top, an old antique table I removed the legs from and refinished, and then built the box. The last touch was with the router to create the 'catch-all guard' around the edges.

OH, if there is one thing I'd like to add.

Maintenance. I use Walrus products.

(And I forgot, I have two others shaped like paddles. One was a gift from a girl who took a trip to China. It's made of bamboo. I don't use that board.)

Wife bought these a few years back and they are fantastic... use them and then let the dishwasher clean them. I have several other hard plastic, wood, and bamboo boards, but never use them anymore unless I'm slicing cooked meats since a couple of them have the moat around the border for the juices.

I can't say I've seen rulers on cutting boards. What do you measure by inches?

We have 5-6 and they are color coded.
Do you utilize that?

K mentioned cutting chicken. When I do that it's on a wooden board and I wash it before moving on to something else. The idea of having several cutting boards/surfaces to wash? I suppose there are some meals where you'd want that?

This is where I'm ACDC. I only use one coffee cup. Why wash two? One glass. Why wash two?

When cooking? Hell, I'm washing as I go. I hate dirty prep or cooking areas, utensils, etc.

Most people boil eggs differently. That probably goes with meal prep like these things.

Cut vegetables first and meat after so I can use the same one

I only use one bc I am color blind. I have OCD like crazy so I have to have a specific order and place for things. My wife uses the other boards quite often, some she has bought and others given to her.
