🏈 Florida State's Rivals.com site reporting Mickey Andrews stepping down...

I always thought well of him as a DC. I saw an interview with him before this season and remember thinking at the time that he really sounded like he didn't want to coach this year.

He was a successful HC at Livingstone State (now UWA), even recording an NC. As far as I know he never sought to be a head man on one of the higher profile schools.

My best wishes to Mickey in his retirement.

'Noles claiming either Coach Sal or Smart are top contenders to replace Mickey. One of them claimed a realtor he know sold one of them a house. Wonder if it's the same one who "sold" houses to Jimmy Johnson and Steve Spurrier.

I thnk Sal or Smart would be crazy to fo to Florida State. Much better chance to suceed at Bama and leave for better pastures when the time comes. Especially Coach Smart. He already has better talent to work with here and will probbaly leave for a head coaching job in the future.........I would look for Smart to be Georgia's next head coach when Richt is run out of town.

To be fair though, I think there's a lot more going on behind the scenes that probably factors into FSU's performance this year.

I imagine that coaching staff is having worse problems than our's did in 2000.

No doubt they have problems within that staff.

Doesnt make up for the lack of fundamentals. UNC ran reverse afte reverse and FSU still couldnt keep them from getting outside. They tackle poorly. Its just a BAD defense all the way around. They gave up 42 pts to NCST last week:shock:

Not only poor fundamentals, but their talent is way down too. FSU's defenses over the Andrews era have been really fast. There are a bunch of plodders in this group.

I have always liked Mickey Andrews but was thinking the other day that this could happen. Before the season started, Andrews claimed that this defense may be one of the best he has had in FSU history. After watching them play this year, I knew Mickey had lost his grasp as a DC.

Good luck Mickey. A well deserved retirement!

Its been said down here that he wanted to retire 3 years ago, but CBB wouldn't let him. I think he has a bad case of ROAD and it is showing up this year.
