Due to an unfortunate death in the family we will be driving down to Alabama this week.....but on the bright side, we will be driving back up through Saturday and have decided to stop in Tuscaloosa for the A Day game.

Can you guys give us some idea of what to expect this day?

How will parking be? etc.

Any tips or recommendations would be great.

Thank you

side note, we will have a 2 yr old with us, so we're limited on what we can do.

Pretty much like game day. Have $10-$15 in your pocket and you can park in one of the students yards close to the stadium. If you get there early enough you might find free parking which we did last year.

Bear Bryant Museum is a good time if you can work it in your schedule. Lots of good restaurants and shopping within walking distance of the stadium. We get there early and walk around all the booths and shops while enjoying adult beverages.

Get there early to get good seats, do what Splittine said and bring around 15-20 bucks...I also think UA is playing LSU in baseball that day, so after the A-day game, if you want to go to that, it would be nice...Even though we'll get blown out

Whats the best spot for merch? I've never really took the time everytime I've gone to really look, always too busy trying to look at all the sights but we're going early enough this time that Imma have some time.

The best selection will be the student supply store in the Ferguson Center (downstairs)... not too bad a walk from the Quad. The Alabama Express store on the strip usually has a decent selection too.

Here is a link with some good info, including a link to free parking passes (and a map that shows where additional free parking is but it goes quick)... http://uagameday.com/football/aday.php

Make sure and stop by the RollTideBama tailgate if you can... grab a bite to eat and introduce yourself. We have folks that stop by on and off all day every year, and we love meeting the members...

Oh, as for tips, I only really have 2... The later you arrive, the more of a hassle things are (in terms of parking and crowds if you want to shop or the the museum, etc)... and bring some sunscreen. Might not need it depending on the weather... but if you're sitting in that stadium for 2-3 hours with no shade you're probably gonna be wanting some.

If you have the time, the Bryant Museum is a good place to visit and escape the heat / sun for awhile. Nice yogurt place under the stadium on the south side. More shade on the west side of the stadium and plenty of places on the quad that will welcome anyone with a two year old Bama fan in tow. Our kids used to love visiting the quad on gameday.
