I don't condone anything that Mr. Red McCombs has said in denigrating new Texas Head Coach Charlie Strong. It was completely classless and insulting what Mr. McCombs said on Charlie Strong's first day as head coach. Those comments are not representative of the people of Texas. Any insinuation by Mr. McCombs that Charlie Strong was not worthy of consideration of the head coaching position due to any qualification unrelated to on-field performance is ignorant of Charlie Strong's successful coaching record.
Texas, like Alabama and other Southern states, has a checkered past in regards to poor treatment of African Americans and other minorities. However, Texas has long made great strides in equal civil rights for all citizens. To infer that Texas is somehow more racist than other places is as equally ignorant as the poor comments made by Mr. red McCombs. People of all races, creeds, and nationalities are welcome in our great state.
