All I know about this story:
  • They aren't winning.
  • The coach went on some rant last week
  • He was fired.
Another note on this one...before UArk finally settled on Cal, Tang was in the mix for that position. As I recall he ended up getting a raise, or an extension, or both because of their opening in Fayetteville. While I watched that job opening I didn't pay much attention to him as a candidate.

Fired for cause and Tom Mars enters the picture; again.

We can talk about it when it happens but it's not hard to think Byrne wouldn't go his usual route of good up and coming HCs.

Also, let's say hypothetically Hodgson never had ties here. He'd still be on the list because he's a good coach, runs a fun system, and has shown to be one of the best recruiters in the country.

I'm not saying he will or won't be. But he absolutely is getting a call. If Oats left right now, he's probably the top of the list. The other two would be Utah State's HC and Saint Louis'.

I'm having a bit of a hard time not buying. I want to say it was back in January that stories were starting to run around Big12 country about him retiring. I didn't spend any time reading. Self, and Kansas, aren't something I'm that interested in following. For me to remember reading it tells me it was from people I pay attention to what they're reporting.

I half recall his words from the soundbite that was played on TV over the weekend, but he basically said he's going to talk with his family and Dr's and see if he needs to step aside (for health issues). Maybe he will, maybe he won't. But I'd imagine he will take his time deciding, especially iof he retires. Just point out though, the Twitter post is a satire/troll account. One that has hooked people on here before.

He's about as good as the guy out of Nashville whose username escapes me.

In my opinion, his star (Self) has lost a lot of its luster the last few years. I could care less; not by much.
