The only difference I've noticed over the years is timing and names. These examples come to mind.

This past spring Texas was looking for a basketball coach. I remember hearing that Miller's agents had an agreement in principle though nothing was coming from the school. A few authors included Miller's name on their boards 48 hours or so before he was announced. Two big names. That's damn near impossible to keep a lid on.

On the other hand, NC State hiring a coach from McNeese State? That wouldn't seem like something that would attract attention. Until you consider who was coaching McNeese State. Everyone knew Wade wasn't going to stay there.

One thing I do find funny here...just trying to balance it out in my head. Shane has interest in Va Tech because of his dad. The same dad who was looking at leaving Va Tech a decade before he retired from the Hokie job.

Wasnā€™t sure where it was coming from, Iā€™ve been a bit unplugged from things for the last week or so. I get the easy connection and who some are so quick to connect it. But Shane probably wouldnā€™t take that job even if he was offeredā€¦ based on what heā€™s told others.

The Kiffin they see today is not the same Kiffin back when Napier was hired. He didn't start getting his own house in order until a little time was spent in Oxford. I find it ludicrous to assume his life would have taken the same path in Gainesville.

I don't see him leaving, plus I think he'd be retarded to do so. Why in the world would you leave what you have now, to go and try and rebuild a program that has been on the decline for years?

It is delusional for Florida fans to think he'd do this, same goes for anyone if them that thinks lanning, or Freeman would their program.

Even though he and Kiffin never crossed paths in MS I will never discount the dislike between the people of Ole Miss and those from Mississippi State. I've seen pettiness from both sides that makes Auburn greasing rail road tracks seem like child's play.

I understand Kiffin stepped on some toes in that state when he was at FAU. I don't know whose toes. I don't know what it was about. I've known a few Bull Gators through the years: worked closely with one that's in the "football business." They see a disconnect from the "casuals" wanting Kiffin and the "old guard" wanting nothing to do with him.

I haven't heard any issues coming from UAA. Things seem to be moving smoothly on that front which would be a huge marker he can play. While their cash cow athletics program isn't doing well the other programs are to my knowledge. Basketball is definitely a national name.

I do not see UM or NS going back into coaching. If it was just coaching, I could say they both would consider it but with all the other crap they would have to be a part of, nope. We all know that they do not need the money. Both have good, very less stressful jobs with FOX and ESPN.
