I still think he's their back up plan if Sumrall gives them a no. But Durkin beating Bama tomorrow would be a massive checkmark in his favor. In a perfect world, they want Sumrall and to keep Durkin too, but Sumrall hasn't agreed to that, and is wary of it from what I understand (as he should be). And in the end, that may be what sends Sumrall elsewhere.

Just a hunch here too, if Sumrall says no, I wouldn't completely rule out Dillingham. He'd keep Durkin. I think it would be a disaster, but it would be popular down there with many. Supposedly, his raise/extension isn't signed yet (for a reason).

Dillingham has put feelers out and the overall response was players will die for Durkin on the field.

I don't know if that's trustworthy. Or, he is. I came across AtoZ media this season. So far, it's been another SDS without the "bonafides." And SDS is more of an aggregate outlet than it is a news organization.

We all have known this was going to be a weird one. And, we all have known that for a long time. Hell, I started this thread September 7th it was so evident. Literally, three months before championship weekend.

You know how it works.. The dude probably got a text, and it's probably something major in terms of news... but that stuff happens a a good bit and often times it was either rumor that grew legs or something that eventually turns to dust. I've never seen his name that I recall... which doesn't mean anything, he could be plugged in very well. But I will say there's all kinds of wild "rumors" flying around out there.... some wilder than others, but still plenty flying...

Well, if it ends up on Durkin and there is last minute panic and pushback? That may well happen. Cohen's apparent insistence on keeping him around is really odd for a number of reasons, but more importantly (to them), it's a massive gamble with little, if any, payoff yet potential huge loses if it costs them Sumrall (and others).
