šŸˆ Finebaum being Findabomb to drop claims Florida v UGA now the SEC’s most vicious rivalry

Finebaum says even most Auburn fans have waved the white flag to Saban. Of course, he says that in spite of Auburn having won two of the last four. We all know Paul drops these bombs to stir up his audience but even for him this one seems over the top. Since 1990, Florida has won 22 to Georgia’s 9. Over the same period, Bama has won 17 and Auburn 14. You can’t judge a rivalry during one coach’s tenure. Anyway, those are my thoughts. No surprise they differ with Finebaums.

I will agree that there is more pomp and circumstance surrounding UF vs UGA. Holding it in a neutral site with the tickets split 50-50 helps to build the energy. BUT, the emotion of Alabama vs Auburn, and the outcome that either makes or breaks a season (due to at least one of the teams' standing for postseason activity and the game being played at the end of the year versus in the middle of the year) makes Alabama-Auburn a better rival.

You know the interesting thing about Alabama and Auburn is that, on the field, it isn't that bad of a rivalry. I mean yeah, you do see dirty hits (mostly from the Barn), chippy attidudes, and the players do play very with a very intense sense of urgency, but for the most part it seems the on the field play is fairly respectful.

I can't say the same thing about Ohio State and Michigan, Florida and FSU, or Ole Miss and Mississippi States. Those rivalries can be pretty violent at times on the field

Now off the field, the Iron Bowl is pretty intense. Whether Barners like to admit it or not, Auburn is obsessed with Alabama. There is no way in hell someone like Gus Malzahn would've lasted 8 seasons at Alabama with the track record he had on the field even if he was able to beat Auburn in the Iron Bowl consistently. He only lasted because his teams were able to pull off improbable upsets (aside from 2017 when our entire defense was in the infirmary) every couple of years.

If they had any sense, they'd hire an AD whose goal was to build a culture of winning at Auburn that did not give two fucks about what happens within the city limits of Tuscaloosa. But then again, I would not want that to happen because Auburn deserves to be a second class school that is the SEC's version of RC Cola.

Screw the Barn, drop them tired of propping their program up anyway. As far as the other stuff goes with finebaum do not really care he has made a lot of money stirring the pot and he does it well.

Spurrier is what made the Georgia-Florida rivalry hit it's highest hatred. Then it was Tennessee, and the last eight or so years Georgia's focus has turned to Alabama.

The only thing I can say about The Iron Bowl is that Auburn is rarely in a position for anything post season wise of note. Sure, they have been once or twice, but Alabama seems to be the team with more to lose on an annual basis.

I agree about what @Elderfalsedemigod said, The Egg Bowl is just hatred at its best. I have enjoyed watching that game more the last number of years than Oklahoma-Texas, Georgia-Florida, Michigan-Ohio State, and others.

I don’t cheer for either side of the egg bowl but have attended several times just for the entertainment value. Regardless of the quality (or lack thereof) of football being played there will almost always be WWE type shenanigans going on both on the field and in the stands. I’ve personally witnessed countless fights in the stands and 1 epic brawl in a Vaught restroom that was as crazy as something out of McClintock.

I think the rivalry between Bama and au is bc of the fan bases. The coach's and players seem to have the upmost respect for each other. This game is talked about, argued and debated 365 days a year.

As a side note, I have lived in Ohio for almost 32 years and rarely do I hear talk about osu and UM, except during the week of the game.
