Starting outside linebacker Brandon Fanney and reserve inside linebacker Prince Hall have been suspended for team rules violations, UA coach Nick Saban said this afternoon.

Fanney's suspension is for today, and Saban said he wasn't sure when he'll be back.

Hall is out indefinitely, marking the second consecutive spring practice that the Moreno Valley, Calif., has been suspended from the team and the third overall time he has faced suspension since Saban's arrival. Hall's 2008 suspension carried through the season's first two games before he was eventually reinstated and played sparingly last season.

It is being rumored that Hall has left the team.

Rumor also had a position change which seemed like it may be true when I heard Jerrell to the inside.

There's been some smoke around the camp about him...now, we see there was a flame.

What I've heard about Hall, FWIW, is that he got by in high school off of a lot of athletic ability and pretty good speed and strength, and never really had to work at things. The prior coaching regime never really pushed him in this area, and he has struggled with weight and conditioning issues for that reason. Remember that Joe Kines said of him "that boy's about a biscuit shy of a nose tackle". I don't hink he's "bad seed" or anything, but he is apparently unable to sustain the off season class rooom and conditioning efforts that CNS expects of his players.

Cynic would say, "One freed scholarship down, about 14 more needed."

Hate it for Hall.

wow 14 more...

Hate to hear such a promising career at MLB go down the drain, but things just weren't getting back on track. I guess if Prince really does leave the team the good news is that there is PLENTY of talented depth.

I don' think he is unable to sustain it, I think he is unwilling to sustain it. which is quite sad that he just doesn't "get it" because he has so much talent.

With the suspension of Smith & now these two, I feel better & better about how Saban runs things.

It seems he just will not tolerate half-assness, no matter what your talent level.

I hate to see anyone suspended, especially those w/ talent, but the trade-off is far more worth it.

RTR!!!

do we know what happened?

Well i don't think it really matters at this point.
Coach just doesn't hand down suspentions for no reason. Whatever the reason i'm sure he felt like those 2 guys didn't leave him much choice in the matter. and ...well.....that good enough for me.
really is a shame though. you think by now these guys would KNOW him and know better. :?

Kind of odd that we had 4 linebackers in this past class even though we didn't have any graduate. Now 2 seniors have been suspended and 1 rumored to be out. looks like we are just making room.
