Excerpt from "The Battle Plan." Good move by Battle with fans in mind at BDS

In his last entry, a couple of paragraphs over halfway down the page:

As part of our continuing effort to provide a comfortable venue for our fans, this week we have installed nine watering stations at Bryant-Denny Stadium; five on the mezzanine level and four in the upper deck. These watering stations are 150-gallon tanks of cold filtered water that fans can use for relief if they need some hydration.

Our 11 a.m. game with FAU saw almost unbearable heat and humidity conditions that needed to be addressed. While we don't anticipate those extreme conditions this week, we hope our fans will take advantage of those stations to stay hydrated. Fans can bring in clear, empty water bottles to fill up at the various water stations and small cups will be provided next to the canister.

I was at the FAU game in the upper deck and it was one of the most miserable experiences at a game that I can remember. It was absolutely sweltering. I will never go to another early September, 11am kickoff (which means a crappy opponent anyway) even if I didn't pay a dime for the tickets. We ended up leaving at halftime and with the rain that moved in later, it was a good move to do so.

i was at that game as well. and while i was hot, i never really got too hot. but i did see a few people being cared for in the breezeway for heat exhaustion. they had emts there holding bags of ice on those affected most and two people had to be carried away (one in a wheelchair and one on a stretcher) while i was standing in line at the concession stand.

and i do like the idea of them putting those watering stations in the stadium.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – As part of Alabama’s continuing effort to provide a comfortable venue for fans, nine watering stations have been added this week at Bryant-Denny Stadium; five on the mezzanine level and four in the upper deck. These watering stations are 150-gallon tanks of cold filtered water that fans can use if needed.
Ticketholders are welcome to bring in clear, empty water bottles to fill up at the various water stations, and small cups will be provided next to the canister.

In addition to the watering stations, ā€œExpress Laneā€ gates will open this weekend and will be located at gates 10, 18, 36, 38. Fans with tickets in the lower bowl of the stadium on the east and west sides who do not have any items that have to be checked by stadium security (bags, purses, blankets, etc.) can gain access into the stadium through these special gates without having to wait for bag searches. Fans in those areas are still required to enter via the gate(s) designated on their tickets but, within their gate assignment, now there is an ā€œExpress Laneā€ gate.

If you experience problems in the stadium, particularly issues that need immediate attention, call our hotline at 205-348-5620 or text the key word BAMA along with your question to 71855 and one of our dispatchers will assist you.

and no gatorade or powerade to be found this year, wonder if someone lost a contract

Something is new this year. The placement of the Coke bottle on the podium was something that jumped out to me and it's not a stretch to think the same company has their hands in water, Gatorade, etc., for both the practice facilities and stadiums, right?

@uagrad93 I think we talked about this in another thread as well.

Anyway ... anyone ever seen him take a drink from the Coke bottle?

That's the same Coke bottle he's had on his podium for at least two, if not three years. Look at the label above Coca Cola. It's cut short. Every. Single. Time.

I'm not going to dispute my friend @sk33tr , but my understanding is that CNS doesn't (usually) drink soft drinks. Coca Cola is a major sponsor, so there the bottle sits.

Used to amaze me walking around race tracks and seeing the absolute devoted loyalty to fans favorite driver's sponsor. I mean right up to the car they're driving. Folks don't have to see Jimmy Johnson shopping in Lowes to know that's where you go when it's time to remodel.

When @sk33tr mentioned he had I began to recall seeing it one time as well. I want to say it was following a ball game or something like that. As memory serves it seems like it was one of those hot days and you could see an "I need some sugar" type of moment. I don't know ... small details, ya know?

The bottle first appeared just after Battle signed a deal to handle a lot of the stadium experience aspects. IE: Concessions, advertising, and delving into marketing. I can't recall the name of the company.

It stuck out to me like a sore thumb when I first saw the bottle.

It is there in his left hand. You can see just the tip. :naughtydevil:
I saw that this morning when I started looking for a pic. Well, first saw the sweater when there was a short clip of the presser on TV from one of the sports channels... :blahblah:

It's just one of those things that crossed my mind ... Rodney, on TITV, takes a swig of Pepsi all the time ... and of course, going back even further there's ...
