I don’t know who he’s talking about but yeah!!! My dad was teaching this same thing, if you don’t contribute, you sit the bench. You actually don’t sit the bench, you support your team mates and when you get another look, you contribute positively.
 
He is right for the most part.. BUT in the late quarters of the game, when the people playing are exhausted, with hands on the hips.. gasping for air... or very slow to get up after being abused most of the game... you should be using some of those players "on the bench"...Some people just sit there too damn long... so then they get fed up and go somewhere else... and we end up seeing the potential that we have missed while they were "Waiting on the bench"..
