ESPNU is getting its own radio station.

ESPN announced Wednesday that it has teamed up with SiriusXM satellite radio on ESPNU Radio, a 24/7 radio station devoted exclusively to college sports. The channel will debut Thursday and feature hosts and analysts from both ESPN and SiriusXM, including — deep breath — Greg McElroy, Rick Neuheisel, Steve Spurrier, Phil Savage, Jonathan Vilma, Ryan Leaf, James Laurinaitis, A.J. Hawk, Danny Kanell, Brad Hopkins, Charles Arbuckle, Fran Fraschilla, Seth Greenberg, Taylor Zarzour, Mark Packer, Chris Childers, Andy Staples, David Moulton and Braden Gall. Other big-name analysts like Kirk Herbstreit and Jay Bilas will make weekly appearances.

The channel will be a re-branded version of SiriusXM College Sports Nation, which made news recently by hiring Spurrier as well as Kanell, an ex-ESPNer who was laid off there in April.

From the press release ESPN sent out, it sounds like much of ESPNU Radio’s content will be simulcasts. The channel will air audio versions of College GameDay and other shows while also broadcasting events already airing on ESPN Radio. It will also be home to various ESPN college sports podcasts.

It’s unclear what ESPNU Radio will air at night or during the summer, but the channel promises to be 24/7. That means if you find yourself driving at 3 a.m. on a Tuesday morning next July in a car with access to SiriusXM, you will be able to catch up on whatever happens to be going on in college sports at the moment.

ESPN, SiriusXM to partner on 24-hour college sports station, ESPNU Radio

I've been listening to College Nation since football pre-season started and I've really been enjoying it. I listen to McElroy's show on the drive in to work and Mark Packer's on the way home and love both of them. Thought some might enjoy this.

I'd listen to a Spurrier show for sure... He wouldn't be as politically correct as most commentators. Kannell... I don't hate him as much as most but don't like him either.

So many media options now a days it's head spinning.

I dont think Spurrier actually has a show (at least not yet) but Packer brings him on every Wednesday and it's absolute comedy gold. Pretty much half of his appearance every week is whether or not he actually said whatever ridiculous thing he has been quoted as saying in the past. The other day a fan said that he heard Spurrier say once "the difference between Cheerios and Notre Dame is that Cheerios belong in a bowl" and Spurrier actually got a little pissed with the guy because he was adamant he never said that. After that somebody asked him if he really made the famous Auburn coloring book joke and he just laughed lol

I've always enjoyed listening to College Sports Nation except for the really long commercials. Haven't tuned in lately though.

That's a negative with some of the talk stations on Sirius. Before I signed up (earlier this year) I always thought it was commercial free radio but its only certain music stations that are commercial free. NFL Radio and College def. have really long radio breaks (longer than TV sometimes) which is when I end up channel surfing to something else for a few minutes.
