🏈 ESPN College Gameday Curse?

OK, by now everyone knows that ESPN College Gameday will kick off the new season at the Alabama vs Clemson Game. I'm exited that the show will be there. I think its great exposure for our program and I love the show format. But..I've always heard about the curse that the show has on Alabama football. I don't believe in this curse but I figured it would be a good conversation. I know that in the past Alabama has lost most of the games where Gameday was broadcasting when Alabama was the home team. I've heard that the curse doesn't effect Alabama if they are the visiting team. Being that the Georgia dome is a neutral site and Bama is neither the home or visiting team, how will that effect the curse? What are everyone's thoughts on this?

check this link out...if this guys spreadsheet is right..we are 3-7 when we play a game where college gameday is present. The sheet dates back until 1993. Maybe it helps

It is right, and it is fantastic! Dates back to 1993 because that was the first one on campus. Trial run (for lack of a better description) was the 1993 Sugar Bowl. Here's the beginning history:

[edit] 1992-93
December 1992-January 1, 1993 (Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, Louisiana - ESPN Crew is live at the Sugar Bowl for the National Championship between #1-ranked Miami and #2-ranked Alabama. Alabama wins the game 34-13). However, there was NO College Gameday show ever broadcast from on-site (only SportsCenter cut-ins).

[edit] 1993
November 13: #1 Florida State at #2 Notre Dame

GameDay goes to BIG games. When Bama starts to win BIG games again the record will correct itself

I have to agree with this, I think the curse is more probation and poor coaching choices than it is ESPN and Corso putting on mascot heads.

GameDay Record
1994 - W 21 - 14 vs. Auburn (In Birmingham)
1995 - L 41 - 14 vs. Tennessee (In Birmingham)
1995 - L 31 - 27 @ Auburn
1996 - W 26 - 0 @ LSU
1996 - W 24 - 23 vs. Auburn (In Birmingham)
2001 - L 20 - 17 vs. UCLA
2002 - L 27 - 25 vs. Georgia
2003 - L 20 - 13 vs. Oklahoma
2005 - L 16 - 13 vs. LSU
2007 - L 26 - 23 vs. Georgia

Definitely less than stellar. But there it is for the record.

I'd have to agree with 252bama, our record stinks when the Gameday crew has been in town, because for the most part when the Gameday crew is in town we're underdogs. Going forward from 2002 we definitely weren't the better team in any of those games, although they were all pretty close.
