In all seriousness. If you can, ask one of them if there are people applying for those jobs as some are quitting. It was a thought/question that crossed my mind a few days ago.

Would you take the job knowing you may not get your first check for a couple of weeks? But, knowing it would be there, eventually?

There are a couple of We Are Hiring signs in the airport.

The line to get wait line for TSA was ~30-40. We've been in TSA line for ~45 minutes.
The end of the TSA line is somewhere waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back there.

Being an International airport, they are getting PAID ... eventually. I quick glimpse gives me the idea in ATL they are getting in the mid-30's an hour.

I imagine some would find that stressful. I don't see it that way. Then again, up until a few days ago, I'd never considered what it would be like for someone working in an airport: sans one position. I know a lady who used to clean the planes on their turn-around. She was both stressed and underpaid; in my view.

Thanks, we are flying international to St. Thomas. Been seeing reports of domestic travelers throwing themselves into the international check line in ATL, making INTL waits longer than domestic. We'll err on the side of caution and probably have to cool our heels for a few hours on the other side of security.

My practice wife and I went to St. Thomas back in the late 90s. LOVED it! Not great beaches though.

Hell, thought of you and vacation. He was out loading his RV wearing khaki shorts, a ATL t-shirt tucked in, leather belt and all. I laughed to myself wondering if that was you in 20 years.

You're overgeneralizing my attire because I was coming straight from a bank board meeting the first time I dropped by your house. What you saw me in last (shorts, t-shirt, topsiders because I had an early meeting and a late checkout - time to change) has been my standard warm weather knockaround forever; however, now I probably wear the typical untucked, camp shirts more than tees because I'm with my wife more. If I'm working around the house, and not chainsawing or in poison oak, I have four or five Costco cargo shorts and a cache of t-shirts that are no longer fit for public places. That's been my manual labor outfit since before we got the lake property ten years ago. For cooler or places where shorts won't work, I have several of those lululemon knockoffs from Sam's and Costco, again with an untucked camp shirt or tucked/untucked polo, or whatever pullover I need if it's cold. Or jeans and boots. I still have my stash of business and business casual stuff, wear it to funerals, visitations and the few professional things I still do.

In twenty years? Actuarily, I'll probably be back in a suit...permanently.

Oh. I noticed. Dude, you fit right in with the group at that place. No one would have known you didn't live at the first house on the corner. Every conversation I got into you were right there; always adding something.

Not saying anything about the four letter acronym organization where you worked for years had anything to do with a preconception. That afternoon I already knew you were the barefoot kid in the creek in the summer. So, it was just funny to me seeing you in starch heavier than a Catholic Priest' collar.

And, we went to the Pub. At that time Laura was still in Hanahan at a bar very similar to ours.

I got curious and looked because I'm full of shit when it comes to this. I have eight styles of dress shoes; 16 total. Yes. I bought black and cordovan. Same shoe, different colors. Cole Haan, Stacy Adams, Florsheim, Joseph Abboud (makes great wind breakers,) ... a nice pair of 20 yr old Johnson & Murphy tasseled loafers I wear casually now they are so damn soft...sole is about to need replacing.

I'm a shoe tree fanatic. I got paid an extra $2 when I sold those at Thom McAnn as a kid...sold the hell out of 'em. BUT, I believe in them. Hence, shoes that are 20+ years old.

Neck ties? Shit. Sixty?

And then we went business casual at work. Now, post COVID?

Various streets, same subdivision, and they were all there when we got there in 1996 or shortly thereafter. Two couples moved locally 10-15 years ago, one's still there, we were there until last year. We are down to two couples left in the original neighborhood that we regularly hung out with, down from perhaps fifteen or eighteen. One of my favorite photos is from my first son's first wedding, about eleven years ago. Almost everyone from the neighborhood jumped in for a group photo. We're missing a few from the photo, but it's the core group.
