Canā€™t remember who it was, but we had someone on here last year saying that Julian Sayin was going to come in and be starting from day one.

Sayin didnā€™t beat out Will Howard in Buckeyeland, and wouldnā€™t have beat out Milroe either. Or Ty for that matter.

Only time will tell with Keelon, but people say this stuff every time a shiny new toy comes in.

I was talking more about Hurts. Someone was saying freshman QBs donā€™t come in and start, so I was mentioning a rare recent case where one came in and had some real success.
Thatā€™s the only one I can remember in the Saban era, which kind of proves my pointā€¦doesnā€™t happen often.

Jalen was rare in his calm demeanor also. Very mature for his age at the time.

Also, Jalen started as a Frosh in large part due to Blake Barnett (who, Iā€™m sure, someone called for to start from day one) not being worth a damn.

Let hope Ty doesnā€™t turn out to be a Blake Barnett.

Weā€™ll see ā€¦ letā€™s make a note to revisit this subject in September.
I"m not going to get in depth in conversation. I'm too lazy to do so:

Pro:
Tennessee QB: Nico Lamaleava. He is the starting qb as a true freshman. He has his team in playoff and all.

Cons: He was inconsistent throughout the season. He made lot of mistakes and hit freshman wall.
He's about to face real good teams in playoff which will do him good for experience, but it could cost them a game.

However at Alabama, there is no room for errors... due to the fan culture. One mistake and people screams for his head. So Jalen handled it well first year, but he received so much criticisms the first year in program and didn't improve much until Dan Eno came to Alabama. I think Alabama is smart to sit Keelon. I don't think it's fair to Mack or Simpson. The focus should be on Simpson/Mack and I think both are capable of leading the offense. Ty is going to be a real QB.

FWIW, Nico redshirted last season. Which kinda goes to your point.

I hope Ty gets his shot. Nico is not a true freshman though. He had a huge game for UT against Iowa in the bowl game last year against Iowa. They sat him behind Milton all season to learn, even though the fans wanted him rather than Milton. But like they say, if coaches listen to fans, theyā€™ll be sitting with them!

If CKD wilts due to fan pressure, he doesn't need to be the HC. I don't think he cares, frankly. I remember when Bryce Young came in & folks said he'd beat out Mac Jones. Or should. But Mac had been in the program (just like Ty) & Mac dominated. It's a good thing HC's don't listen to fan culture.

It helps to connect what fan is short for... fanatic(s). Whom rarely have all the facts & who rarely make wise decisions simply due to not really having the facts. BTW, isn't it written somewhere that the secondary definition of a fans outlook is that the backups are always better?

Now, the appeal to the message boards such as this, is folks get to prognosticate & speculate. Bitch & moan. That will never change. It's something we have to put up with so to speak/type. It's the shit stirrers who are either pure trolls or they cannot get their kicks unless a turd is broken open & waifted under everybodies knose like smelling salts. Those don't last, at least not here. Which is why I only hang out here or comment.

Jalen also got plenty of practice with the 1's during bowl prep due to getting the team prepared for a mobile QB and his stock went way up during that period due to the success he had in practice. Not sure Keelon will get that same opportunity.

so will Bama get a RB out of the portal? Miller is the only guy with real experience.

I personally don't think so as of now. If another one leaves (which would be unexpected) then yes. IMO, they go into spring with what they have... if an injury or someone leaves then, they'd grab one at that time.
