I am seeing no loyalty to the team, it is now going to the highest bidden! We don't have any college football teams we have a semi pro teams. Some of these kids are making 6 and 7 $$$$$$.

College football absolutely sucks as far as I’m concerned. It’s out of control. At what point do the fans have enough and just stop caring? I used to love following recruiting and seeing those players develop over time. Currently it’s just a bunch of kids chasing the next best offer, zero loyalty.

Why would any player go to the NFL, when most are making big time money in college.

Step away from the edge guys. . . . . take a breath.

Let me ask this one question. What football program, that has thrown a shit ton of money at players just to sign, has won any championship since NIL became wide open?

It'll be more soon, every team will have to start finding ways to make sure players consistently get paid. It's going to the NFL Model hopefully and the schools will require contracts and breaching it via transfer portal will have steep penalties.

They've put all the power of the sport in the player's laps right now and it's showing why that was a terrible idea now. I think someone previously argued that player power was a good thing, but that's honestly not the case. Players should have SOME power, but the whole sport is becoming the wild west. Bama is going to have to start tampering and doing things like this as well to keep pace in this world. Unfortunate, but how it will have to be. It also means that recruiting the right players means a lot more in the long run of things. 5+stars and all that mean jack shit if they'll be gone within 12 months because they can't wait 1-2 years behind anyone.

Maybe it is time to wish him well and move on.... Would love to see him stay but can't get into bidding wars.

UA isn't going to offer more than Ole Miss initially offered. But this boils down to what I've said numerous times... you try to keep the ones you really want to keep. That's what is going on.

Take this rumor with a grain of salt: A lot happening down there right now as one can expect. I'm hearing Mbakwe may have been talked into withdrawing. Being given reps on offense to earn a spot and a better NIL package. Not matching, but better. We'll see if that actually happens but that's the current scuttlebutt going around the facility and locker room. Apparently Morgan and DeBoer got ahead of this and had a plan in place. May not be enough to keep him still but hopefully it works out cause I really like the kid. It's the new age of football folks.

I saw some article showing NIL spending. I want to say Bama was something like 11th. Around $500M and Oregon and Texas were almost twice that. Will check to see if I can find the article. Arms race we will lose it or go bankrupt...
The article has no way of being able to tell the truth. These numbers aren't just a "click away."

One of the biggest differences between schools is how money is allocated. IE: The structure at UT isn't the same as UA. The totals aren't different; just compensation plans.

Let's take Bak and assume the 1 million dollar number is correct. Bama isn't going to match that. On the flip side, he'd have the chance to make more in Tuscaloosa than Oxford. Short or long visions here ...

And, quite frankly, I don't see the NCAA sitting back too much longer on the disparity between schools and players. They have too much of a socialist mindset.

So, is he wanting to go the Travis Hunter route and be a two way player? If thats what it takes to keep him, then so be it. Plus, we're gonna start seeing more of that down the line. These kids see that it can be done in college, so they'll want to try it.

He does want something similar to that, yes. He also wants to be given a role. With the possibility of Domani Jackson returning he was likely worried he'd have to sit another year behind Brown and Jackson. It seems that may not be the case anymore. I've also heard thoughts of moving him to Safety and giving him offensive Reps. Still lots of speculation at this moment, I can't say anything definitively but for now at least he's listening to the coaches and the players.

The time has come to change the business model. There is no reason to continue to pretend that these are students who care about getting an education. The SEC and Big whatever need to break away and create a semi pro league that uses the NFL model while still maintaining a link to the schools in name only. Let the athletes be employees of the league, institute a players union and owners union (or AD union, if you prefer) and institute a salary cap. Athletes no longer have to go to class, and thus need no scholarships. Let the players sign contracts like the NFL, so that if Alabama wants to keep, for example, Ryan Williams, they sign him to a 3 year contract worth 1 million a year (or whatever market value is). If Bama cannot pay him, he become a free agent. That's the only way to correct this.

Good. Hope it works out.

Slick,
You may be hitting on a point. College recruiting coverage is a BIG BUSINESS. With NIL & Portal (and the lack of loyalty caused by these) I'll bet a lot of people will decrease time and $$ spent on following high school recruiting.
