🏈 Early Enrollee's practicing with team

Fromm is from my HS but I know Smart is going to go hard after him. I think he'd be wise to consider... we'll see

Wise to consider what ? Going to Georgia ? I think he'd be wise to stay committed to Bama... Georgia has got Jacob Eason, and most expect him to be the best they've had in a long time which is saying a lot considering all the good QB's they've had. If I was a QB recruit I would try to steer clear of the program that took the No.1 QB in the previous cycle.

Or wise to consider going to UGA, because he would be possibly stuck behind Barnett and Hurts here and only be behind Eason at UGA?

If I were to guess, Barnett would win the starting job next year... which would mean most likely there wouldn't be a QB competition again until 2020. Fromm would be a rJr that year with a chacge to start 2020 and 2021 if he beat out any other commits.

I doubt Eason wins the starting QB role in his Freshman year over Ramsey, Lambert (Don't forget about him) or Park. Park was a 4* Rivals 250 QB and has a year in the system now so should be competitive and Ramsey may develop over the spring to be a better option than Eason... it's hard for any true freshman to start in the SEC regardless of talent level. So most likely Eason will redshirt and then play 2017,2018,2019... there wouldn't be a competition for QB until at least 2019 and more likely 2020... pretty much the same as Bama.

Regardless of where Fromm goes, I think Bama will be good with Barnett in the coming years... Fromm will go where he wants to go and that will be fine. I hope he comes here, but I don't think his commitment is as critical as some others. I'd much rather see our Oline commits hold... I think this is an area of critical need...

UPDATED: Forgot Park left UGA after DUI...

It really seems like either Kiffin or Saban (or both) are definitely trying to move us to more of a hybrid offense with the run option for the QB.

We saw the offense morph into what it was last year with Blake, but back to something similar to what the team ran in '09-'10 under Greg this season. I've yet to see, or hear, anything that leads me to think they are moving away from the single back, Ace formation base.

If we saw the staff recruiting a Watson type of player I would readily agree with that. But, with the signing of Hurts, guys like Fromm, and the possible addition of a guy like West, the staff is still signing guys that fit a pro-style offense: QB's that are athletic.

Barnett and Hurts are a different breed of "athletic" though. Hurts runs a hybrid offense in high school (I've seen him in the I, spread, and pistol) but I think Barnett was in a spread was he not? But regardless what I meant was that they seem to be looking more for the dual threats like Sims to use that added dimension of the read option/speed option/QB runs with the offense. Not suggesting they are going to complete change the offense into a spread option offense or something. You have to admit the type of QBs they are going after now are VERY different than the AJ McCarron style pocket passer.

After watching his Hudl film, I'm not a huge Hurts fan as a QB. Great athlete, makes people miss in the open field on QB runs/scrambles.

But, his release is a 3/4 almost sidearm, with no real extension in the windup. Like he pushes the ball. His mechanics and throwing motion remind me a lot of Star Jackson, but with a little better arm strength.

I just know this area. I've seen Fromm play first hand, even when he played in the Litttle League World Series. Fromm wanted to play with a winner & organization that will promote consistency. UGA will make a strong push for him & I'll be shocked if Eason doesn't win the job at UGA this off season. The QB's at UGA just flat out suck. But if Smart sticks with the no turnover mantra, then whoever just doesn't turn it over will win the job & if Eason is equal to the rest, he'll get the nod.

But not so different than Sims. Or, going back a decade plus, Jemarcus Russell.

Not different than Sims, no but I def. wouldn't say Russell. I dont remember him ever running read option or anything like that. He was athletic for a guy his size but he reminds me more of a bigger Jake Coker than Hurts or Barnett.
