🏈 Early Enrollee's practicing with team

Just heard Jay Barker on the Opening Drive say that our 5 early enrollee's will be practicing with the team, and possibly traveling to the National Championship (not sure if that part is accurate). Really cool for these incoming freshman. Should be a great experience to be a part of National Championship preparations. No doubt it will help them get a head start on what will be expected of them going into Spring practices.

Our 5 Early enrollee's (via 247):

-Jalen Hurts, QB (#195 overall)
-Jonah Williams, OT (#20 overall)
-Chris Owens, OG (#158 overall)
-Miller Forestall, TE (3 star; 6'5", moved from QB to TE this year)
-T.J. Simmons, WR (3 star)

Hmmm. Classes don't start until the 13th. I don't think coaches want to spend time teaching these kids what to do/how drills are done. Not really any value to them being there.

From what I have heard, I don't think they can dress. I think it's the same situation Scarborough participated in last year where he practiced, but wasn't allowed to dress because he wasn't officially in classes yet and the season began before he was enrolled. Pretty sure that's what i remember hearing.

Makes sense to me.

I dont think they are allowed to travel unless they pay their own way.

Hurts is the most athletic QB that has been signed during the dynasty. Watched some of his film this summer, and was really impressed.

Watching his senior highlights he is scary fast and shifty, seriously looks like watching high school film of Michael Vick with a more accurate arm.

Yes I like the pick up. Having that run threat is so hard to defend.

With Blake already being on campus for 1.5 years and likely favorite, it made sense to take a chance on more of a dual threat guy. Plus if Cornwell ends up staying, we have a pocket passer.

It really seems like either Kiffin or Saban (or both) are definitely trying to move us to more of a hybrid offense with the run option for the QB.

The fact of the matter is there is no reason not to, and every reason to have an athletic QB that can run. Last year almost the entire college football playoff had mobile QB's, and this year has been no different. The mobile QB in the college game makes a HUGE difference.

Teams with mobile QB's will continue to dominate the college football playoff.

Hurts throws an accurate ball already in high school. When I watched him during camps vs other highly ranked high school QB's this summer his footwork was almost always better, and he seemed to be very "natural" and "smooth" when doing any number of task.

While we're talking QB's:

From Hank South:

-- While he’s a year out from an All-American game, I talked to a scout on the sideline this afternoon that told me Bama QB commit Jake Fromm is hands down the best quarterback in the 2017 class.
