šŸˆ Duron Carter, Brent Calloway, Isaac Luatua: Summer II and academics. UPDATE: Thurs afternoon on BC

I wonder if he's talked to the staff about working with the RB's since Dee's injury. I'd imagine so considering he's probably been dealing with them on his qualifying.

Well, I certainly hope he has!

I know I'm focusing on the two (Carter and Calloway) not here instead of the 80-something that are, but to me their two positions are of great need. The sooner they get rolling the better. Unless there is breaking news in the next few hours I read that Carter had to be in class today to be able to attend summer II. So now it's looking like we won't see either of these guys until August at best. I have no doubts that Carter will be cleared, but like many others I'm getting a little nervous about Calloway. Boy, a whole bunch of folks dropped the ball on him (and yes, I believe he should be held accountable as well). Just wow, and not in a good way.

We need Duron to get in there and learn the routes and hopefully make a difference in 2011. I really feel we'll need significant contributions from him. I wasn't as worried as others about our passing game because I knew we had plans for Dee and Grant catching the ball out of the backfield. Now, with both those guys gone we'll be more limited in those type plays. Yes, I know TR is great at that and I'm sure we'll be using him with that. I just don't know how the lack of depth now affects how much we do that with him.

I know I don't need to remind anyone that in 2010 at some point we were without the services of our top two RB's. Oh my, the thought of that makes me very uneasy for 2011. I really don't have anything to add but concern about our options now. I wish I was confident in Lacey, I really do. I'm just not. And I know most of you rave about Jalston, but he's so unproven. I really don't remember going into a year with concern about our depth in RB's. Just a lot of funky things caused this to happen as we all know. Sure hope TR can stay healthy. Those words can be stated strongly enough.

Sandra,

  • Nothing official on Duron starting class today. But, it's been rumored heavily that he was on the road Weds. and moving in yesterday.
  • Duron has had the playbook since he announced. It's not a matter of learning the routes as much as it is the timing between DC and AJ. Yes, Sims as well...
  • There is no difference in the amount of respect and expectations for Trent or Eddie. Lacy is a player. IMO, of course.
  • Fowler is as good as advertised at what he does.
  • You need to divorce your Aubie husband...he influences your thinking FAR too much.

Thanks Terry. You know far more than I do, so your confidence is much better than my worry.

My husband is out of town, and while I'm sure he knows about the events of Dee, Brent and Duron we haven't discussed it. Sadly, I came up with that all on my own.

He does have a brand new job with a ravid aubie though. I'm a little concerned as this guy is one of those that knows everything about Alabama before we do, and 99% of it seems to be bad. I know it's bad to say, but I had reservations about my husband taking this job just based on my perception of this "guy". Would absolutely LOVE to see his reaction to an NOA.

Are you referring to Brent on this; he was going to red-shirt this year?

Yes.

This is from a copy and paste on the second page of this thread...
"I orginally planned on redshirting this year, but I don't think that will happen anymore because of the loss of Dee Hart," he said. "They are going to need me at running back. That's where I will start."

Corrected, undoutedly.

If my confidence is better than your worry—something you've mentioned more than once over the last few years—why don't you add a step before the worry stage? As in, ask here? :td:

As to your characterization of this guy "those that knows everything about Alabama before we do." Is that self-perceived? As in he believes he does?
