Mark Barron and Marquis Maze both wear #4. Last year, I seem to recall that Trent Richardson shared #3 with another player. What's the deal? Just not enough numbers to go around? This may have been discussed before. If so, I missed it.

Hey there CP, I haven't been around lately but how 'bout JSU beating them Rebels haha.
As for your question I think it has more to do with the staff allowing the kids to have a duplicate number if they're not on the field at the same time. It's another way to make the kids happy or comfortable with the number they like. I guess I'm alright with it myself but sometimes difficult for special teams.
Last year Upchurch and Jerrell Harris shared #5 also.
True freshman WR DeAndrew White and LB Tana Patrick share #2.
Both true freshmen WR's Kenny Bell and Keiwone Malone share #7...for now.
Cody Mandell our punter shares #32 with True Fresh LB CJ Mosley.
True fresh LB Adrian Hubbard and RB Eddie Lacey #42.
With 105 players on the roster, just not enough numbers to go around. As long as they are not on the field at the same time (ie: offense, defense) it's not unusual for two players to share a number.

lol yea u cant have two guys with the same number on the field at the same time...unless ur East Carolina lol on that hail mary TD at the end of the 1st game this season they had two guys wearing the same number (i think #3).

That's close, but not exactly the case scenario. Out of those 105 not all can dress for a game. Consider limited travel rosters as an example.
It's more of a case of players wanting numbers/etc. than it is the number of jersey's that go around. Seriously, who cares if we have a walk-on, scout team member wearing the number 22?
