I made this comment years ago. I'm going to beat this dead horse, again.

This is a zero sum game. The amount of scholarships available today? No different they they were yesterday.

If you are a high school kid, or the parent of a high school kid, with a commitable offer? Take it, now. It won't be there in a few weeks.

He is right. And we said this when the portal mess all started. College coaches have to work a lot harder to build their roster and add depth. That's the key right there. It's not about your starters. It's about keeping your backups. Saban said it best: is this what we want college football to be? Well it's too late now. And the other thing that will happen is a players union. That's coming. And when you have a players union you have player strikes. College football is just like the NFL. Which is to say predictable and boring. And it's not going to get better.
