🏈 Downfield blocking by skill players

i cannot imagine a group of college football players not shifting to an unbalanced line... i would say that most players learn that by the age of 10.. at least the linebackers or somebody.. they just stood there ..

yea our receivers have been killing the down field blocking. Julio was great last week. some genius that was next to me said something along the lines of "Julio aint doin sh*t today" and I told him to go back and watch the TD run and then not speak anymore.

It wasn't so much them not shifting that shocked me. Heck, my comment to Crimsonaudio when I saw it was "I can't believe they didn't call a time out."

It was a set they saw and simply froze. Hell, at least Gino had the ability to call a time out when he saw 11 on the LOS in the Sugar Bowl.

That was a great read.

I remember when the new staff came in, I heard that one of Cignetti's main emphasis point's was making sure that the recievers block on running plays. I believe he said something to the effect of " if you have a good block that leads to a 20+ yard running play it's just as good as catching a deep pass."

It looks like his philosophy is proving true.
