...just a quick update.

His surgery went well—as well as something like this could be expected to go, that is.

Two surgeons were working on Dont'a. Dr. James Andrews, a guy I'm sure most of you are familiar with (if not, climb out from under that rock.)

Dr. Lyle Cain also worked with Dr. Andrews.

Cain is someone I'm very familiar with. To say the least, as widely known as Dr. Andrews is, I feel comfortable saying Dr. Cain is every bit as skilled as Dr. Andrews when it comes to repairing damaged ligaments.

Prognosis? At this point, let's all hope Dont'a is able to compete at full speed when we start spring camp next season. The time line, for recovery, fits.

Think it was Dr Cain that worked on my friends knee. I just remember walking in and on the tv they were showing a knee surgery LIVE!....anyway Dominique Wilkins was in the next room.

I was told it was both....I don't know the extent of the injury though. Torn versus tear, if the MCL was as bad as the ACL...etc.

He only said that because he felt you needed the assurance you had done at least one thing very well—in this case, screw up your knee! :nana:

Doe, I had my right knee cleaned up a few years back and I had a Dr. Andrews understudy do it. MRI had confirmed a torn meniscus. Once he got in, he could see that I too had a torn ACL that dated back to junior high. My ACL had splintered like a broom straw and 75% had fused onto my PCL. His response was "what in the hell did you do?" It blew my mind to think I had played the big 3 sports in high school and then walked on at BAMA and playing all of the intramurals and then mens' leagues softball and basketball and to be felled by a meniscus that tore to tying shoes for the kids I teach.

Highly Doubtful. If he is able to make a full recovery and play next year we will have a hard time keeping him from going to the draft and rightfully so. So a medical redshirt would be rather pointless

Dr. Lyle Cain did my surgery on my knee a couple of years ago when I tore the acl and mcl. Did a fine job. I haven't felt anything since the surgery. Dr. Cain called me once a week to see how things were going. Great guy.

I actually saw Damion Square last night at the rec center. Heavily bandaged knee and on crutches, but at least he was out moving around.

Good to hear that his surgery went well....hopefully he can have a full recovery and come back and anchor a very strong linebacker group next year. I hate that we lost him, but....it gives some of those other guys a chance to step up and show us what they can do. I for one am excited to see Upshaw, Harris (after his 6 game layoff) and others in the lineup. He will be missed for sure, but im confident in the other guys stepping up and not missing a beat.
