🏈 Donta Hightower

SIAP - Does anyone have a recent update of how Donta is coming along? I was wondering if he is expected to be able to contribute is Spring Drills?

I would think that our defense will be looking at him to be more of the "coach on the field" role that is left behind from Ro. Nico might be able to contribute to this role, but Hightower has more experience in the system even though he was experiencing it from the sidelines for a majority of this season.

Hope his recovery is going well!!

Hightower should be fine by next regular season, but he'll probably be limited in the Spring. That's the last I heard (as someone else mentioned).

As far as Hightower's short-term prognosis goes, a knee ligament injury is about a 6-month deal, at best! That's talking rehab and being 75% at that point. The remaining 25% just comes with time. It comes with playing and trusting your "new" knee, and it comes with time. Time is the key.

I blew mine out about 10 years ago playing raquetball. Total ACL reconstruction with partial meniscus damage. I went through about 6 months of rehab, and it sucked. It took me about 18 or months to be able to play softball. It took several years to be able to play raquetball again, or to even run at a sprint without pain. Having said that, I'm not (and have never been) an exceptional athlete that had millions on the line. Chances are, Hightower will make it back by this summer and be upwards of 80-90% and likely improve as the season goes on. He's got the motivation to rehab to the fullest and be the best he can be.

Guys like Hightower (and professional athletes for that matter) have a lot more resources and motivation than a lot of us.
