🏈 Does defense still win championships?

Alabama, Florida State, Michigan State all in the top 5. Auburn 88 just ahead of Kentucky. Are the times changing, or is Auburns method of winning an anomoli?

I will take a high rated defense over an offense every time. This question wouldn't have been asked if kicks had been made or phantom penalties hadn't take place.

I honestly think FSU's defense is the best in the nation. I wonder how they will do getting countered by the Barn. However, the Barn's defense will be burned to ash by FSU.

Seems like Alabama's numbers are deceiving. Then again, no one in the country will ever stop Auburn and Bama held their offense to 28. Auburn shredded Missouri. Off topic: Auburn's got a great shot at beating FSU, probably better than Bama had. An argument could be made the Mason is better than Yeldon and the Auburn line is much better than Bama's. Kicking game goes to the Awbies. FSU won't be able to slow them down. If Auburn gets a stop or two, the SEC makes it number 8.

Our numbers are deceiving because the last few games we didn't have a great offense, and in the Iron Bowl Allbarn found a way to run on our defense. Our defense has been the saving grace for our season. We are 11-1 because of a crushing defense. They ran it up the middle on us. With defeat comes lessons to learn. We just were not challenged hard enough all year. Special teams, and turnovers also hurt.
