🏈 Does Alabama have any other option at punter?

(casual observation here...)

We set back a little while and we're seeing "Saban needs to hire a kicking coach." A lot of those comments included criticism of Bobby Williams.

Now, I'm not seeing any mention of Jeff Banks--who, ironically, is a former punter.

If you have Coach Williams cell # then call him and tell him we didn't mean anything personal so he can come on back to TitleTown. This punter is way past coaching. He needs a dayum Magician at this point.

Big AL is on scholly right? He cant be any worse that 15 yard punt...one of the male cheerleaders? Can we borrow from A and M and get a 12th man from the crowd....student of something...open try outs? With all seriousness there has to be someone on campus that played rugby or soccer or something....my goodness.

Or a valium.... maybe prozac???

Who is that in the video? Not the guy we're snapping to... He may be worse than any field goal kicker we've used during the Saban era, and that's saying something!

What's funny is that several of those 1st punts are in the 35 to 40 yard range. He's snapping from the 50 and the ball is landing at the 15 yard line. Near the end he hits two in the 40-45 range (guessing he had the wind behind him)... but looking at his "drops" in that video, it's all over the place too.

Personally, I think he's a head case and his mechanics are crap. My guess is they are trying to get his mechanics worked out and those "bad habits" are hard to break and cause inconsistency. Maybe he'll get it worked out, but I don't foresee it being fixed this year.

I feel like a pedestrian could kick the ball better. Any grown man high school and up could punt a ball further than 35 yards. I understand he is shooting for ~50 yards and one tweak screws that up, but at this point he just needs to kick the damn ball like he's on the playground to get the ball away and on the other team's side of the field. I am willing to bet $1,000 right now we have a skill player starting offense or defense that can kick the ball further, consistently.

And when it gets to this point... He is probably having nightmares. Hell that punt has been haunting me and I'm cringing in my head just thinking about it lol

What sucks is the true freshman punter at UGA was coming to Bama if JK did not enter the draft early. When it came time to offer Saban wanted Jake to camp one more time to get more info. Jake said nah I am good. Saban pulled his scholly so he went to UGA. Too bad, Jake is doing pretty well and a great kid.

Because of the struggles by P Skyler DeLong, Alabama is expected to start a walk-on punter this week at Tennessee, multiple reports indicated Thursday night.

According to Scott Theisen of 97.7 The Zone and Touchdown Alabama Magazine, walk-on Mike Bernier will start in place of DeLong. Bernier will suit up in honor of his mother, who recently died after a battle with breast cancer.

Coach Nick Saban said on his radio show that most of DeLong’s struggles are psychological, but did not indicate a change at the position.

Bernier is a native of Madison, Ala., played at Bob Jones High School, and transferred from Eastern Illinois.
