🏈 Do you think Kenyan Drake was kicked by Ole Miss' Trae Elston?

Not long after Alabama running back Kenyan Drake suffered a gruesome leg injury, some people were wondering if Ole Miss defensive back Trae Elston kicked at Drake after he was down.

Alabama fell 23-17 at Ole Miss on Saturday.

To see the video, go here. Warning: it does show Drake's injury. But it gives you a chance to view for yourself if you think Elston kicked Drake on purpose. Elston was not penalized for anything.

It's probably not any worse than what Dillon Day did, but it's going to look worse because Drake had a broken leg (which Elston didn't hit)

Elston, a junior from Oxford, was suspended one game by the SEC for a 'flagrant and dangerous hit' two seasons ago.

Mississippi State center Dillon Day was suspended for the Bulldogs' win over Texas A&M for stomping on an LSU player in the previous game.

I'll be honest, it looked like Elston was kicking at the ball. Why? Only his dumbass knows why he would kick at the ball. I have more of an issue with Tony Connor's hit on that play than I do with Elston. Two Ole Miss defenders had engaged with Drake high while Connor came in and hit him low. Similar to a chop block on the OL.

Nice move by Freeze. Given the "uncertainty" of the intent of the kick, he could have avoided a punishment altogether, but a half game suspension is something.

May not be enough, but that's a hell of a lot more than 99% of coaches would do on their own. Need we look at Florida State to show what a lack of discipline is? Coach Freeze gets a thumbs up from me on the way he came out and did something about it all before it caught fire, no matter if we think it's enough or too much.

Hell yeah I think he tried to kick him. I agree with both of the guys that commented about the suspension. Freeze did do something but it's not enough given this guy's history. Not nearly enough. I sent an e-mail to Slive on this. Don't know if it will do any good but it can't hurt.

I don't think Freeze did it out of the goodness of his heart. He was being smart to get out in front of it and make a slap-on-the-wrist gesture to see if the SEC would step in and say "not enough".

They didn't and so he get got away with his gesture.

It was the first thing that caught my attention on this play, then I realized that Drake was injured.

Yeah that's what I was getting at. I mean, personally I'd LOVE a one game suspension at least, but most coaches wouldn't do anything at all, so at least we got SOMETHING lol. I'll take what I can get!

Glad to see Freeze man up even though I thought his kick was at the ball. In light of the injury, he had no business doing it regardless. No place for that in football.

Ole Miss safety Trae Elston has been suspended for the first half against Texas A&M for kicking Alabama running back Kenyan Drake during Saturday's game in Oxford, Miss.

Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze announced the suspension, which the SEC upheld, Monday afternoon.

Elston, a junior from Oxford High School in Oxford, Ala., appeared to kick Drake while Drake lay on the turf after sustaining a broken leg on the play.

Drake has already had surgery on his left leg and will miss the rest of the 2014 season.

Alabama officials did not send the play for review to the SEC.

From a guy here that had a knee injury, I don't like the repeating showing him and his foot pointing the wrong way. Once was enough. If he kick him he should be ban for a game or two.

He definitely tried to kick him. But his momentum and Drake rolling over prevented actual contact. The intent was there.

I agree that half a game is not enough. Still, it matches what Dillobut gets a half game suspension if it comes to light.n, Day got for his first stomping episode last season. Si kicking or stomping a defenseless player on the ground draws no flag or ejection at the time, gets a half game suspension for the first violation..

Didn't someone get a game suspension after the game was over last year? Didn't the SEC Commission hand out that ?
