🏈 Diggs

Diggs is going to be taking more offensive snaps this week. I'd be ok if I never saw Dieter miss another block, or drop another pass. In fact I would prefer that. Maybe just less Dieter all together is what would be best.

If he doesn't sure up the drops and improve the blocking (probably something he didn't have to do a lot of at BC) I would imagine we'll see a lot more of Foster and Sims.

Saban was talking about Sims today as his standout so assuming he's next man up. Would love to see what Diggs can do and I hope they find him a permanent home sooner than later

I see a lot of people trying to compare him to Mullaney. Two different athletes/players ... , and for that matter, roles.

I'm sure it was more of a generalization moreso than being twins. We have our deep guys in Ridley, Stewart, maybe Sims now, and we needed a good inside and intermediate level option, just like Mullaney offered. That's how I see it atleast.

It's easy to see why Dieter is so slim. Imagine trying to eat with those hands.

No one complained about his hands after USC.

Funny, a QB is looked at and given a pass on timing issues he needs to work out. But, a new WR—even as a grad transfer—in his first year isn't given any breaks, at all, when he gets a little ahead of himself. Chances are, if those passes arrived a split second sooner ...

Patience, Chief, patience.

How else are you supposed to evaluate a senior WR? Not much grey area... either you catch passes that hit you in the hands or don't.

Not to mention his blocking has been downright bad. And since our offense has been based around sideways passes and blocking for the other 2 receivers, it's pretty important.

Or, one picks out the passes he drops and dismisses the ones he catches?

He's missed some blocks. He's done well enough at other times he's still out there. Is this not a case of picking out a few bad plays and making a judgment on the player as a whole?

How much of the blocking, especially in the quick out type of plays, is based on timing? How much is based on reps?

I see this as another rush to judgment.

@TerryP

Nothing about his drops are timing related. The Ball has squarely hit his hands without him having to do anything other than catch the ball.

My absolute favorite is to heap praise on Bama players that are doing well, but lets not sugarcoat things relative to Dieter. He's not playing to the Bama standard.

I laughed out loud when Dieter got chewed by Ridley... Ridley had enough of that shotty blocking. ha
