💬 Did Bama dodge another bullet by missing on Gregg Marshall.? BSC antics during game by his wife.

Gregg Marshall gets to swim in the Missouri conference river every season. Not exactly the shark-infested waters found in the SEC. Not putting down anything he's accomplished, but the man obviously digs being a big fish in a little pond.

1. How do you think they got to be the big fish?

2. He also has to recruit to the Missouri Valley Conference... And... Wichita. Ever been there?

My man Alagator up there doing his best to jab, but forgetting that Marshall took Winthrop to the tourney his first 4 seasons and 7/9. I also like how you conveniently leave out that they finished 6th in the MVC the year before Marshall took the job, and the 1 tournament appearance you speak of was the only 1 in a 17 year span. But I'm short sided. Once again... LOL.

You guys crack me up. Poking holes in one of the best coaches in the game right now... For what?? Because he big timed Alabama, I guess.

His wife got drunk and had a little too much fun, which is the first time any of us have heard about it in 18 years, and some are acting like it's a legitimate reason to justify not wanting him as a Coach when you were probably begging for him this time a few years ago. All the sudden he ain't sh*t. haha

Silly season around here. Look what you did, Terry. :-)

When you are in the public spotlight such as a coaches wife, you have to know you are being watched 24/7 and that things will go viral in a heartbeat. Just act the way you are suppose to act in public.

This x 10!!!! You are in the spotlight, under the microscope, or any other type of metaphor you want to use. This was one thing that I always have kept in my head even in the HS level and education in general. We are supposed to set the example for these kids. So getting shitfaced and cursing at everyone in the stands, officials, opposing players, etc. shouldn't be at the top of your "to do list."

@Tidestalker I think you're making this more than it is.

I could care less about Lynn or Gregg getting slack for this. What I care about is that an employee of the NCAA asked a Kentucky beat writer to delete a tweet about Lynn. That's the news here...

I would imagine any Alabama fan would have loved to have landed Gregg Marshall as a coach, that didn't happen. What would he do at a bigger program, only time will tell. With his daughter graduating high school next year, the opportunity might present itself...

Exclude me from that "any of us." Back in '94 there was a little "episode" at Henry's that resulted in a local TV anchor being fired where she was ... let's say, involved in the "festivities."

All the sudden he ain't sh*t.

I don't think anyone has said he's not a good coach--if so, I missed it.

Shits and giggles.

So much lost productivity "invested" in this argument, glad I just scanned it.

I'd actually forgotten about Marshall already. Holding out for more money, using a team for leverage, or not taking an offer doesn't bother me. I'm happy with Avery. I'm also glad Rich Rod didn't bring his bleach blonde wife to Tuscaloosa, too. I don't wish him any ill will either, although when he destroyed the player files at his alma mater I thought that was sleazy.

RTR,

Tim

Was all that rebuttal meant for me? Seem like a lot of stuff. I don't think less of Marshall for staying put. I didn't think less of Petersen for staying all those years at Boise St. Do what you want.

His wife. unfortunately, gets to experience some serious cause and effect. I bet he tells his ballplayers all the time, these days everybody carries a video recorder and a camera in their pocket or purse, everybody. Maybe he just didn't think orientation started at home?

Not you specifically, just those trying to attack his resume.

Everything you say is fair. The question Terry posed was whether or not Alabama dodged a bullet... The answer for me is absolutely not. Would have been lucky to have his drunken wife cursing out UK players in the second round of the Tourney.

@Tidestalker

Spoke with John Kresse and here's his quote.

"Gregg was absolutely serious about what Bama had to offer. The decision to stay at WSU was made by his wife partly due to his kids and where they were in school as well as the WSU offer. Gregg and I talked a few times over those few days about what it would be like coaching at Alabama and the SEC. I would have loved him to follow me at CoC but I feel the school did very well with Coach Cremins."

**It did amuse me hearing him refer to Cremins as "Coach Cremins" since we've seen fans get upset with reporters calling Saban, Nick.

See... She's a lady first! lol

Did you miss this?

Back in '94 there was a little "episode" at Henry's that resulted in a local TV anchor being fired where she was ... let's say, involved in the "festivities."

When the house was built in Charleston in '92 I used to go downtown to Henry's a few times a month. It's ironic thinking back about those days. One could call Henry's upscale, but they would hesitate using the word "ladies" to describe some of the females there. Don't misunderstand me here. There are plenty of ladies that hang out there--your true blue blood Charlestonians.

I can not think of the girls name--the one that was fired from the local CBS affiliate--but she was not what I'd call a lady. There were a number that would call her a lay. I wasn't there the night she got herself in trouble but a good friend of mine was and shared the story about how Lynn was encouraging her to dance on the tables.

When Marshall was on Bama's radar I remembered those days but also cautioned myself to consider how much I'd changed over the years...had to give her the benefit of the doubt.

Based on this weekend I have to believe she hasn't changed a lot despite marriage and children. I can easily see her in Tuscaloosa following the same path that Mike Price did in his short tenure here (sans the strip clubs, I assume.)

@TerryP didn't she play basketball at CoC?
Yep. Funny you mention this. She was in post-grad classes (Masters, I believe) at CoC when they officially got together.

I say funny you mention that ... Gottfried, his wife Beth embarrassing herself in Coleman with Finebaum ... him messing around with a grad student ... another set of adults not acting like adults.

Weird.
