💬 Did Bama dodge another bullet by missing on Gregg Marshall.? BSC antics during game by his wife.

In this thread alone there are what...15 different tweets about this? There's a thread dedicated to the incident on the Wichita State forums. But, it's not a legitimate issue because it isn't publicized in today's social media? I've seen it on at least a dozen forums outside of this one, outside of the WSU sites...yet, it's not publicized in today's social media?

You misunderstood me (my fault after reading). I'm referring to her public drinking in general... If it were an issue it would have been well publicized. Obviously this instance has been made a big deal by the internet do-gooders.

Feel free to address the delusional Texas fans comparison though... Feels fairly accurate from here.

Lowes? Go to Home Depot and support us, bo.
That's one weird story there.

In Goose Creek, there's a Lowe's but no Home Depot. As far as I know that's the only situation like that in the tri-county area. In N Charleston, they are right across the street from each other. In Summerville, a quarter of a mile between the two.

If I'd been at home I'd have hit the local Ace. This trip was all about convenience.

I wasn't aware you were working for HD. I believe @psychojoe is working there as well now that he's retired from his government job.

Got your wheels turning then!! haha. That's awesome

If you are referring to the UHP Summer tires...you'd be correct. All four were turning...in fact, five wheels turning if we count the steering wheel.

Let's see here.

Alabama was interested in Marshall.
Texas was interested in Saban.

And the comparisons stop there.

Did we see Bama fans stating Marshall was going to accept the job? No.
Did we see Texas fans stating that Saban was going to take their job? Yes.

Did we see Bama actually interview Marshall? Yes.
Did we see Texas actually interview Saban? No.

Did we have local sports radio publishing lies fake news about Marshall's wife house hunting in Alabama? No.
Did we have local sports radio publishing stories about Saban's wife house hunting in Texas? Yes.

Marshall wasn't coming to Alabama anyway... So let's not act like a delusional Texas fan trying to throw Saban under the bus for something silly. This non-story has nothing to do with Alabama.
Pretty well known by now though that he was just using Bama for leverage.

Now, if you don't care for the title of the thread that's one thing. To say Marshall wasn't interested in hearing what Bama had to offer makes no sense to me, at all. Then again, perhaps Gregg is one that doesn't mind just wasting other peoples time.

Fact is he agreed to be interviewed, received an offer, talked it over with his family, and decided to stay at WSU.

You left out 1 big comparison:

-Are Alabama fans, just like Texas fans, apparently still butt hurt about a coach who was never going to take their job???

This thread = a resounding YES!

The only bullet Alabama dodged was playing in a basketball game big enough to have legitimate press there to catch the coaches wife on a bender.

I've seen, maybe, a dozen fans post things about CAJ while wishing Battle would have landed Gregg. On the other hand, more than a dozen boosters I know--and not your garden variety type--feel Gregg thought he was low balled. (The amount of money he was after was simply too much, IMO)

You are assuming he was never going to take the job while ignoring the fact Battle spent several days with Marshall. What Marshall wanted, and what was offered, didn't match. So, we're left with a situation where Marshall was continuing to talk to Battle about taking the job while you're continuing to say "he never was going to take it?"

That makes no sense to me.

I don't see a single person in this thread upset about Marshall taking the job. What I do see, and I very well may be reading into this too much, is a valiant attempt at being a contrarian.

The continued comparison to Texas and Saban is as wrong as the earlier suggestion if this was a story it would be all over social media--when said evidence was right before your eyes. It's almost like comparing apples to pine cones--both come from a tree. The comparison of these two situations have one thing in common--it's a college sport.

Absolutely right about one thing, I'm being a contrarian. Someone has to bring you back to reality!

Marshall was using Alabama to get what he wanted our of WSU. Haven't you seen Entrourage? Doesn't matter what UA was offering as long as he seemed interested. He got what he wanted.

You making a threat about "dodging a bullet" with one of the best college coaches in college hoops because his wife told a UK player to "hit the weight room", and let's fuck "sh*t up", might be a good microcosm of why Alabama hoops sucks. The fans are more concerned about "class" in the hoops program than f*cking sh*t up every year. Meanwhile the football coach is misleading high school kids and..... Ah never mind. Winning doesn't come first. CLASS FIRST! Onward! lol

Speaking of butt hurt fans...

Such an amazing coach he hasn't landed at a power program. But hey, continue living in your own reality. We beat that badass coach with our little ole classy team last season in Avery's first year. I say we got the better end of the deal and only time will tell.

This is really, REALLY rich. You're bringing me back to reality by citing a TV show as an example of how the interviews went with Battle and Marshall?

Consider this for a second.

On one hand I've got a lot of guys who've told me how this went down. These guys, guys who actually put their money into things at Bama and have first hand contact with guys like Battle, versus what your opinions are on this whole story.

Who would you believe?

I'm by no means saying Marshall isn't a good coach. I am saying what you believe and what happens are, as stated, as different as apples and pine cones.

What does that have to do with being a good coach? The fact that he's not at a power program and continuously making tournaments is even more impressive.

I tend to respect Bill Snyder just as much as Urban Meyer. Because he never took a bigger job doesn't diminish his coaching ability in my book.

But he's turned down plenty of good offers including Tennessee & Cal. Not "power houses" but in hoops there are only 5-10 of those jobs, and there are steps involved.

Beating WSU was one of the biggest win in Avery's tenure. I wonder why?!

I say we got the better end of the deal and only time will tell.

WSU 2 years: Make NCAA tourney & win first round game
Alabama 2 years: Make NIT Tourney & lose first round game.

Time will tell is right... But does the last 2 years count as "time"... or do we start next year?

But hey, continue living in your own reality.

^^^ LOL

It's not just my opinion Terry... Maybe your buddies were confused? Or Al.com and/or the Wichita Eagle is a couple mill off.

Battle met with Marshall in Wichita for several hours Monday. The Tide offered Marshall a six-year contract believed to be worth between $4.2-4.9 million per season, the Wichita Eagle reported.
Gregg Marshall is staying at Wichita State, signs new 7-year deal worth $3.3 million annually

Or ESPN
Battle flew to Wichita this week, spending an entire afternoon making his best pitch. A source told ESPN's Jeff Goodman that Alabama's offer was in the neighborhood of $4 million per year.
Marshall reaches new deal with Wichita State

For reference he took a 3.3 per year deal at WSU.

Once again, laugh it off as if it puts you insome kind of winning position.

As far as time, how long has ole boy been at Witchita State? What kind of competition has he faced? Hell, anyone can get up for a game a couple times a year. Anyways, he has as many trophies as Avery does, but yeah, keep polishing his knob.
