Alabama has suspended linebacker Xzavier Dickson and freshman tailback Alvin Kamara.

Coach Nick Saban announced Thursday that neither would play for the third-ranked Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl against No. 11 Oklahoma on Jan. 2. Saban didn't disclose a reason for the suspensions.

Dickson is a backup linebacker. He has played in 12 games and has 13 tackles, plus two stops for a loss and a sack.

Kamara hasn't played this season.

I've read where one was from a verbal altercation with an assistant coach and the other a physical one with one (don't know which is which). Yes, I'd say this is it for Kamara. He's probably already packed his things for Athens.

As far as Dickson goes...Well, this is interesting. He was already testing the NFL waters. My .02, he was going to need to make a big splash in the Sugar Bowl this year like Lacy did in the title game last year to have any luck with that. So what does he do now? Hmm...

I have been hearing for months the same thing about Kamara and flirting with Georgia. He is after all from Norcross, about an hour from Athens. He was a sparkplug for Norcross and their championship season last year and is fast as lightning. I simply think he got his butt kissed so much in recruiting that he was thinking he would come into Alabama, walk right on the field, and rush for 1,000 yards. What we have here is a guy that got full of himself, was brought down a few levels by being on the same team as a hundred of the best athletes this country has to offer. I was happy we signed him, but in no way want him to be apart of our team for chirping back at a coach. Let him go to Georgia and get mixed up in the depth chart they'll have there with Gurley, Marshal, Michael, and Chubb. Maybe they take his lip over in Athens. I'm 29 years old and hate that it has come to this in our culture where players think they can get negatively vocal to a coach, their superiors. Cut him loose and work on Fournette. I would rather have one less spot in the backfield to make it appear more competitive for Fournette anyways.

I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment, but he also knows that he'll see the field a lot more quickly in Athens than in Tuscaloosa, much like Corey Grant in cowtown.

I am rather pessimistic about Bama's chances at landing LF. If Kamara leaves, so be it. I'd say let's work on flipping a life-long Bama fan, Roc Thomas.

I agree with your comments as well. They have more room for him immediately than we do at the moment. With the bigger receivers we will have ready next year and the loaded backfield, it'll be difficult to work in unless you show out in practice like crazy. Drake and Yeldon are as solid of a backfield as in the country. It seems as if Henry has the third spot on lock down and then Tempenny. Tyren Jones will be in the mix as well. Gracious, when you look at it, we simply have so much talent everywhere! We have to be the deepest in the country.
