NFL.com’s Mike Huguenin made a list of the 15 scariest players in college football and Alabama’s Derrick Henry made the list at number 9:

The guy was nicknamed ā€œThe Yulee Muleā€ in high school because he basically carried his Yulee (Fla.) High team on his back. He has a heck of a lot more help in Tuscaloosa, but he remains a load to handle. And when this 242-pounder gets lathered up and runs downhill? That’s a scary proposition for a defensive back. And trying to stop him at the line of scrimmage is a scary proposition for defensive linemen and linebackers.

It’s not hard to see why he might be scary. The guy can catch, he can run, he can see open space among defenders, and he’s really hard to tackle. After getting limited carries in his first two seasons (because you would too if you were behind TJ Yeldon), 2015 looks like it will be his breakout season. Remember awesome Trent Richardson? No, not sad NFL Trent Richardson. Alabama Trent Richardson. The one who moved like a refrigerator on wheels? This guy:

With any luck, Derrick Henry is going to look a lot like 2011 Trent Richardson. And that guy was scary.

The nice thing about him wearing the jersey of our favorite team is that we don’t have to be too scared of him. It’s been a long offseason, and we’ve all spent a lot of it talking about Derrick Henry. With an unclear quarterback situation and a serious loss of experience at wide receiver, Henry is our guy going into the fall. He’s the heir apparent to the legacy of great running backs on Nick Saban’s Alabama teams. His importance has only increased as the depth at running back has thinned out due to injury and off-field issues. As Alabama fans, we need him and we love him.

Would you be scared of Derrick Henry if you ran into him on the street? I would be. And I wouldn’t even have to tackle him. Roll Tide, folks.
